Put in a brown paper bag

The flavor is most likely better from a vine ripened mango. Fruits ripened on the vine have higher microbial counts and are therefore more nutritious than those ripened off of the vine. If you can find a mango on a vine go for it. However, if you can't, ripen your mango outside of the fridge. Put it in a bag with apples, bananas or other fruits that are already ripe. The other fruits will give off something ( I forget what its called) chemical signals that basically speed up the ripening process of the surrounding fruits.

RE:
Do mangoes ripen after they are picked? If so, whats the best way to ripen it?

Usually, ripen mangoes, when they are plucked from their
branches, are best for eating. But for commercial reasons,
they are not done this way - they are harvested green in a large amounts and kept in gunny sacks loosely with brown papers
wrapped around it for protection and ripening.
By the time the mangoes are shipped to neighbouring countries
and landed in wholesale markets, they are just ready and ripe
for selling.

You may wrap it in old newspaper or paper bag. Store it in a box - room temperature then check after 1 week.

Have a gorgeous day!

mangos are red, yellow or orangish when ripe. they are also soft to the touch. if you buy or pick them when they are green, you can keep them at room temp for a couple of days or you can wrap them in newspaper until they get soft
