I was so bummed, about 6 weks ago I paid 85 dollars for some chick to do exactly the opposite. She gave me blonde highlights with a red tint. I want hair that is dark (almost black) with maroon or dark red highlights. Can I do that at home and if so can you recommend the supplies I need? Thank you for your time!

do you have a long hair? if you do, it will be a very hard thing to do...you better go to a good salon and told them what is what you want, and if they can do it...if they tell you yes..go for it and if they do it wrong don't pay..your best bet is to ask around

u can if u know what ure getting ure self into and have done stuff like this before........i never go to a salon what a rip!!!.........first off is the highlights blonde with a red tint? or do u have blonde highlights and your hair is a red tint?......hmmm i guess id need to know that one before i could answer...but ill try.....if you want ure hair dark...first off dont go black..it ALWAYS leaves a freakin blue tint..unless ya like that.....do dark dark brown...the darkest possible without it saying black....die it....then u can either wait..(they recomend 2 weeks but i never do)...or wash out dry and then ure gonna have to get some serious bleach blonde stuff...id go to sallys beauty store if they have it there...a place that sells salon stuff to the public.....now depending on how big u want the highlights get a cap if u want them some what suttle...they will be good sized....and i think caps make it turn out WAY better than a wand....do ure poke **** thing in the cap...then bleach blonde it away....then after time probablly lonnggg time....wash out and dry..then dye just the blonde parts ure redish color....use a wand for this part...and its ok if ya get it on other than the blonde...it will still work....but seriously doesnt that sound like a pain?...lol....if theres and easier way go for it...but still i would pay up the *** for something u can do ure self its just gonna take a while....or call clairol and ask..they give advice...18002524765....hope this helps...

Sure thing. My friend does her hair all the time without professional help. Every rite aid or save on carries do it yourself hair dye. I would suggest the Herbal Essence permanent dye. There are many different types to choose from. If I were you I'd my hair the color you want first then add in the maroon highlights. You cant really buy them together so your going to need to dye your hair twice. If you can, get someone to help you out.

you should go back to the girl who did your hair and demand her to redo it! or you should just go to another salon and see a professional. I guess what you could do is put in a red toner color in your highlights. What might have happened is either the red tint had faded, or the red wasnt dark enough. You can also go to a beauty supply store and ask for their advice. You might be able to get away with just putting new toner in it.

Personally, I would not try to do this at home. Maybe if you can get the colors you want, and have someone to help you, it may work out. I would suggest that if/when you see someone with the hair color that you want, ask them who does their hair. This has always worked out for me.

Did you let the hairdresser know that it wasn't what you wanted and that you were unhappy with your hair? Usually, the hairdresser will try to make the customer happy.

You should go to a professional for something this tricky. Be clear and specific about what you want, and take a picture from a magazine if you have one to show the stylist.

Yes. But it will be hard to drive at night and see other cars.
