The only auction records I can find for Horst Alter date back to June 2002, when a piece entitled "Fisherfolk with Beached Fishing Boats" was sold at auction. The link to the page is attached, but you will have to register to find the price it went for.
His painting "Dunes - A Moment by the Sea" is (was?) on sale from the Rosenquist collection via Ruby Lane for 58,500 US Dollars (see link 2 below).
Horst Alter is also mentioned in the short critical appraisal of seashore paintings attached as link 3.
