According to Christian mythology, God created all things, so it stands to reason that he also created Evil. having created evil, it also stands to reason that only an evil being could create evil....Right?

Colossians 1:16
For by him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by him and for him.

"According to Christian mythology," It seems you have already made up your mind so I doubt you want us to confuse you with facts.
Still, Yes we are actually told that God did create evil but HE did tell Adam and Eve from the very beginning that if they disobeyed the ONE thing they were told not to do, they would surely die.
Isaiah 45:7
I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things.
God is not the author if sin, but HE did allow "evil" to be a result of sin
Would a parent allow their child to do anything they wanted without any punishment? I guess we would have to allow them to stay out as late as they wanted, to let them play in the streets and to let our 3 year old play with rattle snakes because if we punish them, we would be evil.
The evil in this world is a direct result of SIN. There is always a price to pay for sin and it always demands payment from those other then the ones doing it just as a child disobeying his/her parents will often effect their playmates.
It is amazing that so many of you always want to blame a Holy GOD for things that HE wants to keep us from. Then again, society wants to blame parents if their children break laws even though they want to take the rights of loving parents being able to chasten their children away.
You want to avoid evil....then do it GOD'S way...not yours!

God did not create evil. Evil is simply absence of goodness; as a shadow is simply absence of light. Saying God created evil is like saying you created your own shadow, when all you did was block the light. One day when you stand before a pure and holy God, as we all will, you will not even be able to look upon Him because His righteousness shines brighter than the sun. You obviously have a Bible. I urge you to keep reading, starting with the Book of John.
Jesus appeared to over 500 eyewitnesses after his Crucifixion and Resurrection. Most of those eyewitnesses were persecuted, tortured, imprisoned, and killed because they could not deny what they saw and knew to be the truth. I would hardly consider that mythology.

no. Your reasoning short-circuited somewhere. God also created good. He created both good and evil and gave you free will. And according to Christian "mythology", you have Eve to thank for knowing one from the other. Can someone who created good be labeled as evil? no, I don't think so. It is more logical to describe God as all powerful...but not evil.

Evil is the absence of Good, much as darkness is the absence of light, or cold is the absence of heat.
God created everything (including light and heat), and declared it was Good.
He also gave man choice, and man chose evil.
Here's a question. If there is such a thing as Evil, then there must be objective Good. In order to know what Evil is, you have to know what Good is. How do you know what that Evil is, unless there is something which is objectively Good?

God is not evil & did not create evil. He created all things
good but he gave us all a freewill to choose between
good & evil. Just like a knife - it's neither a good nor evil
knife but it depends on the one who wields it. Does he use
it to kill or does he use it to cut his steak?
Evil existed because of Lucifer who was jealous of the human kind whom God created & sin was born due to
Adam & Eve's disobedience to God.

I think the bit about only evil creating evil was a bit of a gap in your logic. I think Christians tend to attribute evil to either free will or God's complex plan, which may appear evil but only because we can't comprehend it.
Try again.

God is not evil at all.
Just your logic that satan has so induced your thoughts with,
You're just over thinking wanting to see and believe what really isn't and that is that God could or would create evil.
Nope, I believe you've missed the mark, this credit should go to Mr. evil himself, satan.

God did NOT create evil. people have free will. they can follow God. or they can reject him. some chose to reject Him. then they could turn around and do evil things.
Yes God created people. but people choose to be evil. God is hurt when people turn away from Him. But he never forces Hisself on anyone.

No, God gave pple the choice between good and evil. He did not create it. When you have light you must have dark; happy with sadness; goodness and evil. You pick. It's up to you and to all of mankind.
