Some years ago I came to this country LEGALLY with nothing but some cash to my name , a suitcase a duffle bag and a work visa. I wanted a better life and to build an american dream for myself! I was ninteen then. I worked very hard in and out of jobs to make ends meet and to pay for my green card . Never the less, I ended up paying alot in final expenses! Today I am thirty one years old, have a great paying job, happily married with three kids and own my own house and vehicles! I am not bragging, but just making the point of knowing what it's like to want to live here! I have nothing against illegal immigrants as long as they are honest hard working people! Alot of them are ! I work construction, I know! I think more power to them if they get to stay! They probably had it easier than I did! Cost of a green card that is ! Yet alot of people say I should be mad because I had to spend alot of money going through the whole process of legalizing! They say it is unfair to legal immigrants

I think you are a very compassionate person. A lot of people are against illegal immigration simply because it is "illegal." However, in reality they go on with their lives each day with little or no problems coming from illegal immigration. I know several immigrants (legal and not) and all are very hard workers and really nice people. I understand that not all of them are this way, but I've had nothing but nice things to say about them from my own personal experience.

I do agree that we need to get a handle on illegal immigration, but we shouldn't be hateful towards those who are coming here illegally. They don't come here thinking "Oh, I want to be illegal, I want to hurt Americans and their economy." They come here to make better lives for themselves. Everyone wants to know why they can't just come here legally. Not only is it not as easy as everyone thinks to come here legally (you know this from experience), when you're completely poverty stricken and your children and family are starving, I doubt you're really going to be willing to take the necessary steps to coming legally. A lot of time they're in very desperate situations.

Legal immigrants, in limited numbers, are good for America. Note that I said LEGAL. I'm not for letting illegal immigrants have automatic citizenship in the USA. I understand that many of them are kind, hard-working people, but good intentions don't warrant legal citizenship. The government can't allow it, for several reasons; one, it would be a smack in the face to all of the people that had to go through the time and pay the expensive fees to get into this country the legal way. Two, if the government lets anyone that can get over the border have U.S. citizenship, what kind of population problems will we have in the long run? China has to limit the number of children had by each family because they're so overpopulated. It can't come to that here. Not to mention the millions of dollars illegal aliens are already costing the gov't. annually.

I agree with oldfart here - I think your story is a bunch of bull. Most legal immigrants are 100% against illegal immigrants for all very good reasons. And if you are legal and working in construction, you should know very well that the illegals working in construction are heavily depressing the wages in that industry, which used to be a fine industry in which to make a decent pay, but no longer. Construction companies who hire illegals are able to underbid those who do not hire illegals and this causes legitimate American construction companies to go under. You are writing a pack of lies here, as far as I am concerned.

My grandfather came here from Italy and I at least know the stories of his hardships. I do understand and sympathize. The bottom line is that the world is not the same, America is not the same, enemies are not the same, this countries economy is changing and not for the better. Social Security is running out in at least 2044. Medicaid is projected to run out by 2014 (somewhere around there) and this is all based on figures without calculating in the massive and ever growing number of illegals aliens from all over the world. At this rate, social security, medicaid as well as many other services will cease to exist for not only illegal aliens. It will cease to exist for you, your children and every Americans citizen who has worked and paid to the government all their lives to have these services when they are sick, disabled or elderly. Illegal Aliens are unwittingly for the most part and in some cases intentional parasitic terrorist, that if left unchecked, will destroy and change the America you presently know. Simply put...The U.S.A. is the lifeboat of the free world and we are taking on to many people. If we continue, the life boat will sink and all will perish. What good does it do to take on so much as one too many, if we all drown. I don't mean to ramble, but even the movie theaters have a limit as to how many people can be in the theater at one time. Our problem is not just the number of people. It's economics, healthcare, SSI, medicaid, crime and the list goes on. Emergency Rooms are closing down all over the country because of illegals and Americans inability to pay for basic healthcare. We are taking on water my friend. Hope you see what I see and try to help defend America.

"...as long as they are honest, hard working people." Tragically, we now have gangs like MS-13 and other "major" gangs that have infiltrated all states and are importing deadly violence and drugs and more drugs. We know terrorists have gotten through based upon those we have captured. Our health care system in most states is overwhelmed by people who use the ER's as a primary care physician - we have had 10 ER's close in Southern California - LA County in the last four years. Our schools are busting at the seams, some districts trying to educate a preponderance of Spanish speaking children in their language. The parents of these children do not interact with the schools and these children are failing and will drop out as they reach their teens. Undocumented teens are overwhelmingly joining gangs as a means of familiarity and support. Our welfare system is inundated with women having one birth after another in a special attempt to create an "anchor baby." The illegals are infiltrating our formerly quiet, American neighborhoods and bringing traffic and parking problems with their multiple cars for the dozen or more occupying a home or apartment - even though it is illegal to do so. Property values drop. The illegals do not wish to learn English, nor do they wish to involve themselves in anything American, unlike Mexican-Americans. And we have seen numerous "marches" or "demonstrations" of young people carrying the Mexican flag and the American flag being disrespected. They are fleeing the corrupt Mexico but they insist that we all respect their "pride" in their country. That doesn't make sense. They "demand" rights that even some of us citizens are not granted. They are involved in identity theft, fake documents, car thefs, rapes, burglary's, robbery and murder. It is a fact that in Riverside the suspects or those charged with the above crimes are over 90% of Hispanic surname. They are poorly educated, if at all, and many are unable to read or write. They do not respect education and as such our schools are becoming third world entities. I could go on and on. And yes, it is grossly unfair to legal immigrants. You should be ashamed that you are so little involved in your society that you do not even know the basics of the calamity that is illegal border crossing.

I believe that it is wrong and despicable. For you gave me the very reason why, "Illegal Immigration". Illegal means against the law. There for illegal immigrants deserve to either be detained or deported. I have no problems with LEGAL immigrants. And one other little problem I have with ANY immigrants if you move here and don't know the language don't expect special treatment from me. I can understand a student we had last year though. He had already graduated from High School in Mexico and came here to learn English and go to College. Immigrants that come here legally, work hard, and conform with our society I have no problem with. And I must say that I am very proud of you going through the proper steps to obtain legal citizenship in our nation.
And there is a reason why it is so hard to gain citizenship to our nation because we want as little crime as possible. Don't expect our security to get more relaxed in the future because its shaping up to get worse.

Ron you say your in construction, you are not in the union obviously, ilegals are destroying the union. Thats great you came here and did it the right way, theres no hard feelings about you, now that you are paying taxes, your not insulted that others dont? Your not insulted that they sneak over here. What about are borders, dont you think they need to be protected, if not from illegals, what about terrorists? Funny you can ask this question but when I do, its reported because I am against it. Why do your people do this, I never report, its lame and immature, I talk with my words and always stand up for what I believe in, reporting just condemn that. So what if they are honest? Its still the law, its disrespting our laws, if they cant oblige with that, then whats that say about all our laws, theres more damage thats meets to your eyes. If things were okay, 90% of the population would not be complaining, when illegals first started to come years ago, it wasnt an issue, its now because people realize that it it, its effecting them in all sorts of ways, illegals have migrated as far as north as maine and as far northwest as Idaho, legals dont even go to Idaho, but yet the population of illegals in on the rise. What about other isssues, its a FACT in my town the illegals have drained the resources of the schools and hospitals, sure they may come here and work hard, but what happen when they get hurt, they have no insurance, a hospital cant turn them away, they have no documents so cant even be billed, so who is paying for this, me and you, I dont have health insurance, if I cant pay my medical bills, why should I have to pay someone elses, why does this not make sense to you?

Jennifer I understand what you are saying, but America can not let everyone in this country, its hard to do it legally for reasons that protect the public, remember 9/11? Also dont you want to know who exactly is coming here, would you let a stranger into your home, Im not saying all illegals are threats, but think about the ones who do use drugs, rapist, murderers, child molestors, theres no megans law in mexico, we need to know about and who we are letting in, why are you so against this, its common sense for gods sakes!!!!!!!!!!!

For you all you people giving thumbs down, its proof illegals want another 9/11, how can you disagree with what I said? E-mail me you wimps!!

If you did it the legal way, then I congratulate you, however I disagree with your view on illegal immigration. Illegal immigrants cost this country billions of dollars, we need to nip it in the butt, and make them do the honorable thing like you did.

You should not associate illegal aliens with yourself, as you are an ethical individual who did things the right way. I associated illegal aliens with shoplifters or burglars- people that want something , so they just take it regardless of laws or ownership/sovereignty.
