Stockholm Syndrome. It really happens. The women are held hostage by the oppressive religious convictions of a powerful misogynist culture. Eventually the women become emotionally attached to their captors and sympathise with them, even defend those who would obligate them to conceal almost every inch of their skin. After a while, they may even feel proud of their bondage, claiming they want it, they choose it, and that no one can convince them otherwise.

I don't understand this either. I love my veil and I did choose it. I choose it when I lived in the US to so yes it was my choice.
I have asked question like this and have gotten many different kinds of answers from many different religions or non religions. But the best explanation I got really shed some light for me as to part of the reason they don't like it. Besides the fact that they hate Islam.
When people see something they don't' understand. And they themselfs think it must be horrible to wear the veil they think that we must feel the same way.
When I was in the states I got asked all the time "Aren't you hot" Well I would look at them and "Yes I am, its summer and it's hot outside" Then I ask them a question, I ask them if they are hot. And most of the time they say yes. So there is not difference between us then right. Sometimes they actually get the point.

exactly.i cant understand it either when people say they feel that muslim's women are oppressed when we wear the veil to cover the hair. i mean, the veil has liberated me in more ways that i ever thought was possible. me being a muslim lady who has tried both ways of NOT WEARING a veil and WEARING a veil i can honestly say i prefer the security the veil brought upon me. like the first day i wear it in public the catcalls and sexually charged remarks/leers/crazy stares dramatically disappear and men treats me with more respect and i dont have to worry about superficial relationship because all the jerks are turn-off by my modest attire and what else does a girl want but respect and be treated like a human being and not a sex object. im not saying im pretty far from it but i guess most people have twisted the truth by saying the veiled women are oppressed when its actually the 'baring-all for the world to see' type that is being oppressed by their own and men's sexuality but a proportion of the world's population just dont see it.

I don't have a problem with how people worship, what I have the problem with is when that choice isn't theirs. If a woman was to decide not to wear a veil she would be punished and that is wrong, wrong, wrong.Even when a woman who isn't a Muslim visits your country she has to veil herself. If we made it a law here in the USA. that Muslim woman would have to unveil themselves, you would be shouting discrimination. If a woman didn"t wear her veil in your country and you made her do it anyway.Could she charge the Government for discrimination? We both know the answer to that don't we.That's what we here in the USA.call a double standard and it is.

As long as that is how they truly feel and not what they're being told to feel I have no problem with it at all, in fact I think the head scarf is kinda pretty.

why? because of this!!!
2:6 As to those who reject Faith, it is the same to them whether thou warn them or do not warn them; they will not believe.
it's more likely jealousy and hate. i can't find another reason though!!
they say we dont speak up well, how many Muslim is on this forum? and what do we do every day? no matter how much we explain the same exact questions will be asked and they still have the same exact view.
