im in american and i'm going to move to mexico because you don't have to pay taxes and my rent isn't going to be 1,500. over there im going to rent a nice two story house for $100 a month and i don't have to pay taxes or car insurance so basically all the money i make is going to be for me not the government.plus the food down there is way cheaper and they have the nicest beaches. i'm going to rent my house in LA and basically i can live off that over there if i don't want to work.

I recall reading an article about this in Time. Some retirees are moving there because the cost of living there is much lower than here. Most have servants that they never could have afforded here. There was much more in the article but I don't remember anything else. So to answer your question, it is for economic reasons.

Life is cheaper there. People go to retire. Since they bring money, they are encouraged by the Mexican government.

Many Americans retire to Mexico, because their money goes further there. They live like kings. (Well, most of the ones I know of are gay, so they live like Queens, I guess...)

Wrong. Americans don't want to migrate to Mexico. Mexico is a corrupt nasty sewer of a country. If Mexican nationals would put as much effort into making their country better, as they do trying to get a free ride off American taxpayers, you might have a decent place to visit. Thats what I think.
