Can someone please help me. The doctor couldn't give me a straight answer and the nurse didn't know. I want to have an idea of what it could be before I panic and go running to a professional.

No need to worry unnecessarily. However, there are serious conditions that can relate to your liver. For instance, "cirrhosis" is known as the "silent killer." The liver deals with over 500 processes within your body, including how you absorb nutrients and excrete toxins.

To find out how your liver is doing, go to a real doctor and ask them to run some basic lab work, including liver enzymes and liver function. Hopefully, all is well. It is money well spent; whether to find out what is wrong, or to find out there is nothing to worry about.

In the meantime, I will pray for a clean bill of health for you!

Peace be with you!

could be any of the three main hepatitis's

A-food borne
B-viral (dna)
C-viral (rna)

other things could be wrong as well other than the types listed above...

for intstance, in mono cases, the spleen and/or the liver could be the culprit.

if your liver panel looks normal, (alt and ast levels) then have them run a hepatitis c antibody test anyway. sometimes the alt and ast levels appear normal, but you can still have active HCV.

good luck

The liver secretes bile which is made of bile salts, bile pigments, cholesterol, triglycerides, phospholipids, and electrolytes. Bile salts and phospholipids aid in digestion. The chief bile pigment is bilirubin which comes from old red blood cells.
