We just got our cat 2 weeks ago, and we're going out of town. I'd only planned on being gone for a week and a half, but I decided to extend my trip.

I'm not sure what to do with our cat though. I could either 1- leave her here and pay a reliable teenager to check in on her and play with her, or 2- I could board her at the Feline BnB that I got her from, or 3- I could take her with me. I'm really not sure what the best option is.

She's a very social kitty, so I can't leave her alone for too long, but I'm not sure if she's ok with flying... I know she isn't a really big fan of the crate. She doesn't throw a fit in the car, but I'm afraid traveling cross country in a plane may be a bit much. The only reason I'd consider taking her with me is because we aren't going to be doing a whole lot of moving around. We'll only be in 3 different places during the time we're gone.

The other thing that worries me is that boarding her for that long won't be cheap, and may confuse her.

If you can trust the teenager, go that route. You just got the cat 2 weeks ago. Uprooting her again may be difficult for her. Let her have the stability of her new home.

I think the best option would be to either board her or leave her with a trusted friend or family member. It might stress her to bring her with you. And if you just get someone come in for a bit every day, it'll probably not be enough for the cat. They thrive on human interaction. Unless you make sure that the "reliable teenager" is willing to spend a couple of hours a day there with the cat.

I'd say stick with your babysitting option. Your cat will be more comfortable in familiar surroundings even if social contact is limited. You can leave entertaining activities behind like cat trees, toys, and catnip. I am flying to Aruba in a few weeks and my mom agreed to walk and chill with the dog while we are away for eight nights. We considered boarding but the prices were steep and most require recent vaccinations like bordella. We figured he would enjoy being at home more than anything.
Cats are also more likely to be in a confined area while boarded b/c they are not very social with one another. Definately don't take her with you. You may not be able to let her out everyday, and while your on vacation you may not want/have the time to spend with your cat. So she'd be stuck in an unfamiliar place (if pets are even allowed) or confined to her crate while your out.

at the start, your mom and dad are no longer in charge cat proprietors and could on no account have pets. in the event that they could have the funds for a three week trip they could have the funds for to have the cats boarded at a vet or pay a service to feed and water those cats each and on a daily basis. This makes me ill. Your mom and dad are lazy. Your cats could go away or die from the nice and comfortable climate if no person is there to look after them. yet I doubt in the journey that your mom and dad care that a lot. they might in basic terms circulate out and get yet another cat and permit it take place returned. Who is familiar with what your cats might do. Why might they stay with somebody who would not look after them good. i wish which you do no longer persist with on your discern's footsteps. You look extra being concerned than they are.

1- dont leave your cat at home, it will make a mess, since the fact that the Cat Litter will be overwhelmed with poo, and 2- Dont trust anyone to take care a cat that you don't know, EVEN IF YOU TRUST THAT PERSON, but still don't let that person take care the cat, even if he/she is begging, you never know that the cat will intentionally run away from an open door. and for the travelling with you, make sure your cat got all of its necessary shots (if your cat is a kitten) so it wont get sick of air travel, or sea.

Well for my susgesstion, bring it to the Animal Kennel Building, so they can take care of your cat while your out of town, (Vetinarian Office wont work/Clinic, unless they are special kind of vet office) (of course there will be charge from the Kennel office for taken care your cat)

Aside from your choice of a in-home sitter, or boarding kennel, please don't pick the flying option. A LOT of pets die while flying. They are put in luggage cargo bends in the bottom of planes and they die from heat exhaustion, dehydration and some have even froze to death. Planes are not designed to give your pets the comforts of home, they are treated like luggage. Flying is not save for animals. You've given your cat a safe and loving home, pick an option that will keep it that way.

Hi Tiffany,
I am a professional pet sitter, yep thats right I make my living taking care of other peoples animals. You can go to www.petsit.com and type in your zip code and find a list of people who do what I do. You can have someone come in to your home (much less stressful than flying and boarding) every day or every other day to feed, water, play with kitty, bring in your mail and papers and alternate lights for you. Professionals who do this are very reliable because it is their business and sole source of income - they are not going to blow it off to go to a party!! Also, most professional pet sitters are bonded and insured so you need not worry about theft or damage to your property. good luck

I would board the cat. Cats don't like change, so I wouldn't take it with you. Boarding doesn't cost that much. The kennels here cost $10 a day for a cat.

If she travels well, you might want to consider taking her with you. Otherwise, you might want to pay someone to come stay with her so she won't get too lonely.

It is true that boarding isn't cheap. But since you've had her only two weeks, that might be best if you can't get a reliable house/pet sitter.
