I think every religion has a handsome amount of rules and guidelines but still no religion comes close to Islam. Islam has most organized rules, regulations, guidelines for every activity done in everyday life.

The Bible says in Ephesians 5:28-33,
"In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church- for we are members of his body. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and will be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."
The Bible also tells children to honor their father and mother. The first commandment. The Bible says to bring up children in the training and instruction of the Lord. Ephesians6:2-4
Ephesians was written by the Apostle Paul during his imprisonment in Rome. Ephesians is part of the New Testament in the Bible.
The Bible also says in Romans 13:10 that love does no harm and therefore is total fulfillment of the law.
1 Corinthians 13:4-13, describes love and how we are to treat each other. It says,
"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no account of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
These are just a few of the many scriptures in the Bible that give reference to how we are to treat each other.

I don't need any religious rules to tell me how I should conduct my life. I'd like to think I can work it out by myself and it's simple:
don't do to others what I don't want done to me. Unlike the quoran which I understand authorises a husband to hit his wife?
I'm no fan of fundamentalism but I understand there is no such passage in the Bible.

Are we robots that we need programming in order to know how to treat people? Ask your own heart and conscience, treat others the way you want to be treated.

We don't need no "Idiot's Guide on How to be Humane to our Family, Friends and Others"

If we really need a step by step guide on how, why, when and what to be humane, then it must be a very sad sad world we live in. No Free Will.... just follow rule number 2345 catergory (c)....

I would rather use the term "Guidelines" than rules.

While there are a great amount of references from the Bible and other religious texts I could give you, I think just this one from the Master, is enough:

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you."

If everybody can understand and do just this much, the World will be a better place for all of us.

Peace.

Love fulfills the law. If love is the governing principle, rules are unnecessary. Unfortunately few allow love to govern all their choices. There is a difference between rules, principles, and wise choices. In Christ, there are wise choices - not rules.

every religion has a rules, it depends to a person or individual to follow the rules. treating a family in a nice manners is not a rule, being a good provider to a family is not a rule, being a good husband and father is not a rule, being a good mother and wife is not a rule, its OBLIGATION and call of CONCIENCE. if you follow all the rules as stated in your religion, you might be a Saint. priest, ministries, preachers they have obligation to fullfill, to spread the word of God. amen

Read Ephesians chapters 5 and 6. It speaks of husbands and wives being subordinate of one another, children obeying their parents etc....Really good stuff.

Ya, the 10 commandments,
Jesus told husbands to love the wife as they love them-self, and as he loved the Church.
Children are to obey the parents if they want to live a long life.
The bible says to beat the child, you wont kill him.
The bible says for wife's to do what the husband asks of them, but do it in wisdom of God.
The bible says not to cheat on your mate,
or you will burn in hell.
The bible tells a man, not to think about another women, or a woman not to think about an other man, or the thoughts will bring them into hell.
Sin starts in the thoughts, then goes to the heart, and mind, then comes out.
Nothing is done by us with out thinking about it first, its a choice, God wants us to love, everyone, and live in peace.
and any thing that is not of that, is Satan. or your self.

There is such a thing as non-biblical (non-religious) morality. You do to others what you would want done to you. If you want respect, respect. If you want charity, give to charity. I don't understand why people need a book telling them that someone is watching them all the time to behave... but since that is the case, I am at least glad that, if only for that, religion is here.
