I have to take Allergy Meds everyday or I get Sinus infections. I curretly take Wal-it-in D, Walgreens brand of Claritin D. I only buy it when I run out sometimes my son takes it too! Now I go to the Local Walgreens just to find out that I have reached my Limit for the month. So I took other cheaper brand that I had in my med cabinet at home . waited a couple of day till November 1st, and went back only for them to tell me, that I still could not get it. So I sent my wife to get it. The problem is it is too low an amount for some families. so we need to change the law or modifie it some way. A doctors note, Bigger limit for larger Families. And help would be great? It is so frustrating to go get meds you need and have them tell you ,you can have it because you reached your limit. Who do I complain to? How can we do something about this. The pharmasist told me that it's govenmently regulated. Who do I call? He could not tell me he didn't know. Please Help me?

Some states are restricting access to allergy and cold medications because these medications contain pseudoephedrine, a crucial ingredient in making methamphetamine.

I don't know what state you live in, but you should be able to buy the pills in gel form. Gel pills aren't usually included in the ban because they can't be used to make meth.

My next door neighbor, who is a Registered Nurse, is complaining bitterly about the ban. Actually, she thinks that almost all drugs that are illegal now ought to be legalized. She has some really good arguments that I can't remember now, but basically she says that most of the problems we have with drugs are related to the fact that they ARE illegal. They are so expensive that people have to steal to get the money and they are produced by criminals, so you have to establish contact with criminals to get them. If the drugs were legal, they could be produced under controlled conditions, would be pure, and would cost only a fraction of what they cost now. Also, the government could tax them and thus get money for drug rehabilitation and education.

I don't think that these drugs are prohibited in all states, so you might be able to buy they on line.

It is unfortunate that many have to suffer because of a few abusers.

My Dr. was writing me a prescription and I did not run out. Now that this new law is in effect; I cannot get the last 7 days of the month worth of sinus meds. I have had a horrendous migraine for 3 days now and will have to go to urgent care.. just because some people are idiots does not make it right for the people who genuinely need this medication just to be able to breathe. I hear they need water to make the meth...maybe you should ban all water unless the government hands it out to you. Sick and tired of being denied medication!

Hello tm 7, Not sure if You'll see this after such amt of time but I too have the same issue with getting allergy meds for My household. In fact, having to have had the grandparents go into store to get the DOCTOR RECOMMENDED medication for Myself and My child has made ME feel like I'm breaking a law or a bad person and thats ridiculous and unfair for any law abiding citizen! Anywho, the federal government had passed the initial law on amount of pseudo miligram medication restriction which is fairly generous and actually allows for most families to get the necessary medication needed to thwart the awful symptoms We allergy sufferers endure. The problem we are facing is with Our respective state Government and ultimately the state GOVERNOR who has the final say in passing these additional "state specific" laws in further restricting allowable Mg. purchases. It is THEIR signature that makes a proposed law an actual law.
** These additional state laws vary widely from state to state AND from the Federal law in that many states have severely reduced the allowable purchase amount from that which the Federal Government has deemed Okay... For instance, Indiana law is excessively restrictive allowing for only 7200Mg/per 30 days. This allows for 240Mg. daily which IS the recommended daily dose for an allergy sufferer whether You two 12hr tabs at 120Mg each or one 24Hr. tab with 240Mg. BUT,, You can not purchase a 30 day supply at one time which is beyond Me. You also can not purchase any medication for any other family member, say Your 15 yr-old with severe hayfever because You need a claritin for the same reason and they haven't a license!! This also means You can't drop a pill, lose one in your Purse, leave one in Your desk at work in case You forget to take it before You leave the house and More annoyingly,, You can't buy More until You are completely out of them which I just found out.. I had 2 left (2 days worth) was doing my weekly shopping and was UNABLE to buy another 10 day box while I was already conveniently at the store because it exceeded monthly allowance!!
*** I BELIEVE in LAWS prohibiting criminals from continuing illegal activities but THESE laws HURT MANY MANY MORE law abiding citizens then they thwart those that are not.. I recommend speaking to Your county commmisioner first to find out if Your county has imposed additional laws beyond that of the state, and then writing Your councilman/representative and possibly getting a petition including signatures from Your Nurse friend and Doctors. Many of which are also dismayed by the additional state restrictions.
*** WE DONT SELL CIGARETTES TO MINORS BECAUSE THEY ARE UNDERAGE. The restriction ONLY restricts MINORS.. WE SHOULDNT SELL PSEUDO TO CRIMINALS WITH DRUG CHARGES ETC. EITHER BUT,,,, The LAW SHOULD NOT apply to The rest of Us citizens with clean records and maybe merely track consumption for instances of obvious excessive consumption. Our drivers licenses contain almost every bit of information on file to be found anywhere when swiped. I propose that a criminals license/ state I.D.card identify them as such and prompt the pharmacy to DENY the sale or raise a flag per se. THAT WAY, when I swipe My card I can get the medication I NEED AND REQUIRE to be able to walk outside when A neighbor is merely mowing the lawn.. A "law" set up like this makes sense and is comparable to the laws we have set up for EVERY OTHER type of controlled substance..
**** THIS CRAZY IDEA of Mine would then ONLY APPLY To AND EFFECT Those individuals its supposed too. Exactly like the Age restriction on MINORS Purchasing Alcohol or tobacco... I know, I know, its just My crazy idea...
