I was best friends with a guy for about 2 years, we never left each other's side. Eventually we began actually dating but broke up after 3 months. We've been broken up for about a year now and are still friends, but have not hung out since the break up. What do you think? Is it dumb to date your best friend?

Let's not kid ourselves here. A guy and a girl never become "Best Friends" unless either one of them is GAY. You can PRETEND to be "Best Friends", but don't be so naive. If you guys were truly just friends, then you never would have started dating. It was a pre-meditated move by both of you to become "Best Friends" in the first place. You both knew you wanted to date each other in the first place, but were afraid of rejection. The fact that you guys don't hang out anymore is proof enough that all you guys wanted from the beginning, was to date.

No, I don't think it's dumb. I think some of the best relationships come out of really close friendships. I'm engaged to my best friend. He was my best friend in high school and in a way, he still is, although I have other very very close friends.

That depends on the people involved. Sometimes getting involved with your best friend leads to the best marriages. Other times the people involved can't handle it and it does not turn out well.

IT NOT DUMB AT ALL,THAT THE BEST KIND SOMEONE THAT
YOU KNOW AND KNOW YOU, THEN THAT WHAT MAKE
A REALTIONSHIP IS FRIENDSHIP FIRST. BUT SOME TIME
WHAT HAPPEN IS THE REALTIONSHIP END AND THE FRIENDSHIP GOES BY THE WASTE SIDE. ONCE YOU
GO THE NEXT LEVEL AND IT DOES NOT WORK OUT
IT A PROBLEM.

well, not necessarily, 'cause you all were dating to see if you all were thae perfect match, it didn't work out big deal? no because it turns out that you all were not meant 4 eachother.
but if you certainly have feelings 4 him then you tell him that and you all try to work things out.
just keep your head up, and never give up, and stay strong.
god bless u.
good luck.

Depends why you broke up and has the situation changed? Why will it work this time when it didn't before?
