How much money would you consider a good deal for a gym membership?
How much is too much? I mean either monthly or annual cost (please specify). I'm asking for a gym membership from my parents for Christmas but they think it won't be worth it. Do you use your membership frequently?
What gym do you go to? Which one is the best in your opinion?
What are some things that you can do there that you couldn't just do at home (one of their arguments against it was that we have a treadmill and a few weights at our house already)?

I really appreciate any help you can give :)

I should probably include that I am an avid runner. Cross country season just ended and I need a place where I can run inside since it just started snowing today. I'm getting in shape for track now, and I average about 35-40 miles a week, sometimes a little more

I used to go to 24-hour Fitness. It's good because you may not want to work out during a certain time, so the gym being always open helps (for the most part.) The one around my area is pretty good, I payed about 150$ to start out including a trainer, and the monthly, I believe was 35$ or something. Not bad if you ask me. Then again, I'd check around a bit more (24-hour Fitness gyms vary by size by the way.) Compare rates - it's more accurate in my opinion. Good luck!

I just got a great deal at 24 hour fitness - $649 for first 3 years(which works out to be ~18/month for the first 3 years) which includes their Nutrition Package and 5 personal training sessions. After the 3 years I pay only $29 a year for as long as I want to keep the membership!!

A good deal would be $20 for a full service gym with a pool - but keep dreaming. They normally cost $70 at the least.

i go to 24 hour fitness. My plan is 24 dollars a month (normally, its way more) Anything more than 40 isnt cheap. i got atleast 10 days a month. they have pools, machines, and classes you can take for free. There are plenty of machines specifically designed for certain parts of the body, and a tip? If you keep doing the treadmill, you wont burn as many calories becuase your body gets used to it. switcing it up, and using the eliptical or stairmaster will help burn fat faster and more effectively. Good luck!

My wife has a membership at a gym, they have a nursery and she works there part time, 9 hours a week, and she gets a free membership.

Check with your local gyms, maybe you could get a part time job, and earn a membership
