Yeah, so it may be a stupid question, but I can't fall asleep because my throat is so dry and has a paticular salty taste in it. In fact my whole mouth is awfully dry. I'm well hydrated, I just drank a can of diet Pepsi. But my throat an dmouth is still remarkably dry? Help? Quick, easy solution? One that involves household items because it's almost midknight by me and I don't feel like running out.

I've tried mints, there not working either!

You may have a medical condition that needs to be checked by a doctor. It is called Sjogren's syndrome. It is actually quite common but many people do not get diagnosed because it is not what they feel is a medical complaint and never mention it to their doctor. Many people with this disorder also complain of dry eyes as well. There are medications to treat this if this is what you have. Until then, use biotene toothpaste and mouthwash, keep a glass of water at your bedside table, suck on lemon drops because they help to produce saliva, avoid sugar because it can cause increased dryness. Good luck- you many not have this disorder but it would be worth looking into. Look it up.

The best thing you can do is drink alot of fluids. Water being the best. question though is it sore and dry or just sore. You can try to use lozenges to moisturize your throat as well. I am thinking your a singer? I got sick here recently with a sore dry throat i used Airborne to keep me from getting sicker and then halls to help with the soreness and dryness and some zinc lozenges and i feel tons better today. I would push the water however i hope this helps

You think a can of diet pepsi is hydrating? Mints too? Who is giving you this information? #1 WATER & plenty of it! #2 Tea w/lemon & honey (or the other homeopathics mentioned here) for temporary soothing. #3 Hard fruit flavored candies like Jolly Rancher to feel more comfortable (also temporary).......but remember sodas (even diet) & sugars in general only add to dehydration in the long run. Mentioned above is a medical problem....maybe you should ask your doctor as well. Good luck! OH! PS Are you on any kind of medication? Many meds can give you dry mouth.

Sugarry drinks will cause you to feel more thirsty then when you started out. I do not drink "sodas" and rarely ever feel thirsty.

And I lost 20 lbs since I quit drinking them. Diet sodas are included
