It's any unit...it's how you compare it to the other ingredients.
It could be an ounce, a gallon, a barrel. For example, one part whisky and one part water...just means that you use the same amount of each. One part vodka, two parts gatorade...just means that you use twice as much gatorade as vodka.
The exact quantities are what you get to decide. The "parts" just help you figure out how much of one as compared the others.

This refers to parts of the whole. If something is 2 parts alcohol, 2 parts water, then it is 50% alcohol. Because alcohol makes up 2 out of 4 parts.

Not sure what you mean by part, but if you mean proportions, 2 parts alcohol to 2 parts water is 50% alochol, or 100 proof.
181 Bacardi is 90.5 parts alcohol to 9.5 parts something else (mostly water).
It's interesting to note that if you mix say 2 ounces of alcohol with 2 ounces of water, you'll actually get less than 4 ounces resulting. This is because water and alcohol mix so well.

Alcohol poisoning is caused by ingesting too much alcohol in too short of a period of time for the body to adjust. Result is death by the way. Mixing alcohol is wrong because alcohol comes in different forms such as beer wine and spirits. Drinking multiple types of alcohol is a no no. You will be a sick puppy in the AM. Best to keep to the same poison (sparingly). NOTE: drinking on an empty stomach can only make matters worse. If you must shamlessly test your manhood by drinking mass quantitys of alcohol then do so with a fat stomach full of T-bone steak and potatoes.

you can only refer to a part of alcohol when you are mixing it with something else. if a recipe tells you one part alcohol and 2 parts juice, you pour one shot of vodka then you add 2 shots of juice and mix it up. thats your part and so on.

A fraction, it changes based on the total amount. For instance a White Russian is one part vodka, one part coffee liquor, and one part cream/milk. So if you put in 3 ounces of vodka you would also put in three ounces of each of the other two ingredients.
