I second arpitach's choice with flickr as a photo hosting site - they normally have dozens of images for any subject you want to search. My favourite online shop is the cheapest! Once I decide on a camera I do a price search using sites like:
www.shopping.com
www.pricerunner.com
The sites normally have reviews of the shops, so you can see how reliable the online stores are. I'm based in the UK and I have bought my cameras at www.pixmania.com - they are a company based in France and tend to have cheap prices.
You can get away with a lowly 1MP pixel camera if you are just using the digital images on computers - a 1024x768 monitor displays less than 1MP!
If you want to print out 6inchx4inch photos you need a good quality 3MP camera (like Sony or Canon for example).
