I have looked at the website for the Commune of Grottaminarda, but I do not see anyplace for birth certificates. Also, I do not know what department or government level issues birth certificates.

Hey Joyce M,

There are a number of ways, and number of levels of government. There are always places you can pay a ton of money to, and they will produce records you can get for less.

As a rule of thumb, always try the local government first. Town, Cities, Counties, etc. That may be difficult for you if you do not speak Italian. But try these sites provided. The last is the Search URL with over 10 pages of sites to help with Italy Vital Records, many of them Cities.

Contact the Italian Embassy. They should be able to help you, or at least point you in the right direction.
