Have you ever seen a pig eat out of their trough? They attack their food with a vengence. People that "Pig out" tend to eat more than they should and gain too much weight.

When I lived in Wichita Kansas, a pig out was a masive pot luck at work the day before Thanksgiving.
We PIGGED OUT. All the guys at the plant were hunters, and that was deer season.
Deer sausage, deer burgers, deer steak, deer ravioli, flaming deer wings...and my eggplant dish. In all we had about 40 homemade dishes, and we ate every single one. Except for my eggplant dish.

pig out means eating like a hog or going whole hog.
we cook whole hogs and sides of beef.
we call em pig pickings-- you just pick the meat you want and go at it..
slaw-taters-hush puppies-candied sweet taters and yams-
tater pies-nana pudding-chocolates cakes and pies-homemade churned ice cream,, and gallons of ice tea and lemon aide,
we have one every Sat in November and first two Sat in December with our Turkey shoots.

why it's appealing??? it's food!!! glorious food!!!
well , when you party and pig out!! it will only make sense to eat food that taste good and that you prefer right?? and most people pig out with their friends!!! so maybe that's why!!! it's fun to do it once in a while!!
