I had a male cat and adopted younger female cat this past spring. After an initial adjustment, they were getting along fine. They weren't great friends, but they weren't fighting either. Now inexplicably, the older male cat has been frequently hissing at the younger female cat for no apparent reason. He was on the losing end of a fight a week or two ago, but the female cat wasn't involved. How can I get him to revert to his old friendly self and hopefully make the two of them friends?

We had 2 cats and took in a stray about 9 years ago. My female never did warm up to him and still hisses at him on a constant basis. Sometimes they warm up and sometimes they don't. Also how old is the other cat getting, sometimes if getting old or not feeling well they can get grumpy.

It will just take time. I had sisters for 16 years and they never really got on and would hiss at each other all the time but were tolerant of each other.

You, tell him that if he doesn't stop it, he's getting a time-out and you are going to send him to bed every night without supper. NO, you can't it's a power thing my neighbor said!
