I'm not obese but have been a few pounds overweight but having friends who are obese I think I am safe in saying that being obese is not fun.
Chaffing/heat rash, problems breathing, trouble walking, trouble in getting up from a sitting postion, public stares, public humiliation, comments by children/ill mannered adults, back problems/general health problems, trouble in finding decent fashions, trouble in finding comfortable beds/chairs,trouble reaching things that others can reach easily, trouble holding children on their laps, can't climb very many stairs, feet problems, feeling like a failure because you try diets and can't seem to lose weight, and in some cases they they have to fight depression.
I love my friends regardless of their size/weight but realizing that they do have restricted abilities in some cases,my friends know that they can always depend on me for most anything they need help with.
I am glad that my overweight friends seem to be comfortable with themselves but when they need encouragement, compassion and understanding they know they can count of me.

I can't say I was obese, but I was overweight....check out my before and after pics here : http://www.healthandstrength.net I remember that it was very uncomfortable to be that big. - I am definitly not trying to offend anyone by answering this question. I know what it's like to have things said to you...it doesn't feel good. I felt like I was in the way of myself, if you can understand that :) I was quite depressed and had low self esteem. I felt like I was stuffed even if I didn't eat alot. I felt stuffed with something, but not food. It's not fun!

Welllllllll I can safely say that I'm the exact OPPOSITE of that (Well, I'll know later on in my pregnancy how it will feel I guess, ha ha) But my friends say that their knees hurt and get stiff, that it feels like their lungs are cramped when they run/walk too fast, that they have to make more effort to walk because of the excess pressure on their knees and ankles and the inability to put their arms flat down against their body is frustrating. Oh, I have a LOT of big friends, and they're always b****ing about their weight. I have a solution for them if they EVER want to hear it. EAT RIGHT. EXERCISE. What a CONCEPT! Man, I love them, but they need to shut up and do something about it if it bothers them this much, you know? Oh, and they lisp a tiny bit because of their big, swollen cheeks. That's about it. Ha ha, like I said, love them but would never want to be them. :-P
