Honey people that have problems whether they are abusive or drugs or whatever usually do not change and the ones that do change it takes along time for them to change and it usually happens through counseling and other types of professional help. By letting him stay with you through this time you are not allowing yourself the time to heal, breath, and asses what you want to do. I hope that for you sake you are not in any immediate danger and if you are you are smart enough to realize it and get him out of there. I have a brother that is abusive and I have seen it first hand he only promises to change to get what he wants and when something or someone sets him off again its back to the samething again only each time it gets worse. Please really think about what you have been through and think about what you want for yourself in the future. Good luck.

It wouldnt be a good idea because by him always being around you want have time to vent or even miss him. Let him find somewhere else to stay while you are working on your problems because once you two are back the way you were you will regret not having that time away from him to work on getting yourself back on track and deciding if this relationship was where you needed to be. He said he will change but make him change by letting him see how his life will be without you and let him miss you and your company. If you let him stay he want change because there were no actions for whatever he has done so he thinks that he can get away with it again if he says he will change

It depends on the problems you are having. If you have kids and he is violent or intoxicated often, then I would say for your kids and your own safety, make him leave. If it is less violent, like trust issues, or little arguments, than have him stay and build up what he is lacking. If you believe that change is possible for him and you want him to, then keep him around and help him do so.

No. Apparently he did something wrong since you said he would change. You should control the situation and make him leave until the problem or problems are resolved. Best of luck.

No way. Change comes first! In a way it's like letting him know that whatever it is he needs to change is ok. No motivation for change if you're allowing everything to continue.

I do not believe you should. It is very difficult to change a person, let alone a man. He might be saying it now that he will change or he changes briefly, but he will most likely go back to his regular old self. "Old habits die hard."

no.
he is just trying to get as much free riding as he can before it all falls apart.
as long as you keep handing him everything on a plate he will have no reason to change.
