I am a newlywed and my husband said that my cat has to go if he keeps pooping in the bathtub. My cat is a little over a year old. We have another cat and a dog that my cat wasn't around before but he was around other animals before I was married and lived with my husband. My cat is a flame point male neutered declawed siamese and he is my "baby". I don't want to find him a new home. His box is changed regularly and I have tried different litters, two boxes, taking the lid off, etc. When he is shut out of the bathroom, he goes right outside his box on the floor but he pees in the box always. HELP!!!!!!

I have tried putting the poop back in the box and he did this before I moved in with my husband. I tried putting the box in the bathroom but not in the tub and i clean the tub with bleach every time I scoop the poop.

my cat did this also! we cured it in no time.
fill the tub up with water. not a lot, but enough to layer the bottom. when my cat jumped in, he freaked out and it was the end of bathtub pooping. try this out. see if it works.

Thats def strange but i can relate. I recently moved back in with my parents for the time being and my cat started to poop in my dads office. Its very strange becasue he has never done this before. Anyhow the vet said to make sure i am constantly showing him by physically placing him into his litter box. Also put the poo from the bathtub into the litter box to show him. My vet also said that changing litter brands often can frustrate cats so try and stick to one brand preferably the one you have always used before you were married. Whatever happens i hope you dont have to find a new home for your kitty! I know how you feel about him being your baby, because my cat it totally my baby and i feel that way with a real baby on the way. You husband should not make you get rid of someone you love! Best of luck.

Put your litter box in the bathtub. Your cat will then get used to the sand and the smell. Then remove the box, and the cat will go in the box and not the tub. May take a few months.

Well, I don't know much about this, but I'd try placing the box in the bathtub for a week or so. After that, slowly move it from the tub into the bathroom, then outside the bathroom until you get it placed where you want. If that doesn't work, talk to your local vet, they may be able to help.

Try putting the litter box in the tub, then moving it to the floor just outside the tub, then a few feet at a time to wherever you want it to be. It may take a few days and a few false starts to get him to go along with the program but it should work. If you plan it right, you may even teach him to use the toilet :)

I dont know your cat and a vets advice and a physical exam should be part of the help you seek BUT cats may poop outside the box when the associate the box and pooping with discomfort or if the other new cat doesnt leave him alone. Try softening his stool with pumpkin. Clean up after your cat as much as you can so its less of a problem for your partner. Ask your partners understanding that you are bound to this cat emotionally and ask his help in solving the problem. After all you must share the good and the bad. good luk and ask you vet for help too.

It sounds like the cat is protesting a change in living arrangements. It may help if you pay extra attention to the cat and also pay attention to when the cat needs to go, and put him in the right place. Also, the cat my not like sharing a box. How about two boxes, and keep them very clean. You could also try putting a box in the bathtub, so he gets used to using it.
At least he is going in a place that is easy to clean, and I would work extra hard at cleaning it. The scent would continue to attract him. Get a bottle of bleach to really sterilize it.

Put something in the tub that the cat hates! Like sour apple, it is sold at pet stores. Or black pepper or something that will not hurt the cat, but teach him a lesson. If i found my cat pooping in the tub, I would turn the water on and soak him!

Put one of the clear runners that are designed to let office chairs rool on carpet upside-down in the tub. The pebble-sharp things tahat are supposed to grip carpet are intolerable to step on. Keep it in place for several weeks then repeat if needed to reinforce the idea. Cats don't respond well to scolding but seem to appreciate praise so I'd also suggest praising and giving a treat to your cat when you see he's used the litterbox.
