No, they can not get married because when you are a priest you are giving your whole life focus to God. Your love is God and no one else. They are married to God, just as Nuns are married to God. They still have friends and they go outside and everything. But they are taking a vow to focus their lives on God.

There are a FEW married men who, later in life (while still married) are allowed to become a Roman Catholic priest. As far as I know, no man who has became an RC priest is then allowed to get married ... and if he does then most likely he will be in suspension of all priestly functions.

And probably it wouldn't be acceptable if he were to marry and then want to become a priest ... and how would you feel if he were to be away for perhaps 7 years, at University and Seminary ... and maybe way over in the Vatican, etc.?

If the two of you really want to be married and him to be a catholic priest, why not try some of the eastern catholic (Orthodox) kinds?

If he becomes a roman Catholic priest, he will not be able to marry and will need to take a vow of celibacy. If he becomes a pastor or revered from a different protestant denomination, he can still get married.

Episcopal is pretty close to Catholicism if he wants both.

Roman Catholic preists can't be married. He could probably be a preacher or something in another church; I'm sure someone else has more info than I do (just my Catholic upbringing).

As I understand it, the rc's do not allow preist to marry. Too bad he is catholic, he has bigger problems then not being able to marry! The rc religion is packed with errors that are not consistent with the teaching of the Bible.
