All things occur because God allows it to happen. He is all powerful, He can stop it. Some things may appear to be bad, however, ultimately they occur for the greater good.
Grandma may have been in a constant state of pain hurting herself and her loved ones. The family was struggling to support themselves and Granny. Granny gets burnt 2 death in the house. Sure, it's sad. But Granny is no longer going through a state of constant physical turmoil. Not to mention the payoff for the family (financially as well as knowing Grands is no longer in pain).

The bible says it rains on the just and the unjust alike.
God is not in the confusion business, he has set how he is in the Bible. What is his character? He is love, peace, joy, and everlasting life, abundant life.
Then you have the character of Satan, he is war, hate, killing, lying, destroyer, havoc, head games, stilling,
You have two kingdoms, the kingdom of God. And the Kingdom's, of this world, notice there is a (s) at then end of kingdom, meaning, allot. So when Satan fell, he was given this kingdom. Earth. He rules and is lord over it.
It says that in the story of his falling.
God gave this earth to him as his kingdom when Satan wanted Heaven.
When we walk in Gods love, we have protection around us like a bubble we are protected God is our shield. Nothing can happen bad to us.
But when we are not walking according to the ways of God.
This being Satan's kingdom. He can cause a car crash and kill people, this is his way to rule,
Gods will is everyone come under his protection of his word.
So Satan can not come in to his nature of killing, stealing, and destroying, we are only safe, under Gods wings.
That is why its important to read the bible.

I believe that when you are a believer, God uses things to get our attention. He could be trying to show us stuff, tell us something, or move us to a higher level, but we are so busy we can't hear or see, so he steps in an get our attention. In both scenario's you refer to death. I believe the love ones we lost, no matter how tragic, are our angel's that we need to watch over and guide us. That's why we must be in constant prayer, that God's will be done in our daily life, so no matter what happens, you know God's will is being done, because that was in your daily prayer.

If you are really honest with yourself, you know that you have free will. If you believe in God, you know (feel) that God, somehow, gave you that free will.
When an event happens, if we were not brain-washed by religious empires, we would realize that for God to create or control an event would be interfering with that very free will that God (himself) gave us.
Answer: Well?
If you really think about it, if there is a God, (I certainly believe there is), then he does not have the traits that religious leaders have told us in order to scare or awe us into supporting their selfish, self centered, empires.

Everything happens for some reason. If those things happen to you God's not pacing around heaven going "Oh dear, how did that happen? What am I going to do?" He has a plan and if you will lean on Him He will get you through any situation.
