I think u should get camcorder because camcorders have a greater length of recording time compared to a digital camera and also take pictures. But it really depends on what type of media you like. If you mostly like videos, you should get a camcorder with greater length of recording but also has ability to take pictures and if you like to take pics then u should buy a camera because u will take more pics than u will record.

I would buy the Camcorder. Digital Cameras goes obsolete quicker.
But thats just me.
If you take more "Stills" you definitely would want to buy a digital camera.
If you take more videos then you would want to buy a camcorder.
I have a Sony Camcorder, and I rarely take pictures of it, because its awkward and it is more difficult to download the images to the camera.
Also digital still cameras, memory cards do not have the capacity to store long videos at a decent quality.

90% of digital cams take low quality video and 90% of camcorders take low quality pictures. i would personally go for the dig cam becuase it is a lot more mobile and you will use it a lot more. plus the low quality video from a camera will be more impressive than a low quality picture from a camcorder.

Digital camcorder that takes stills. You are more likely to get better quality going that route.

It really depends on where you would use it. I mean like if you were recording basketball games all the time then you should probably get a video recorder.
But on the other hand if you just like to take alot of family portrait type pictures then you should probably just get a regular camera.

from my art induced point of view, get a camcorder that is equaly good in both those areas, so it can take like 4 mega pixel shots and also takes good video, then you can have the best of both worlds. but it may run you a kind of big price tag, it shouldn't be too big though.

i have a jvc vid camera, it takes great movies, and decent pictures. what it comes down to is which option (pics or vids) that you want the most of.
one point is that most bars wont let you bring a vid camera in, but you can bring a camera in.
all in all its whether you want good pics or good vids
