I know, weird question... but my concern is this. I feel that I believe in God as a being. However, to all the christians/catholics, how do you know you believe in Jesus Christ? I don't know if I believe in him or not? I guess its all the science background and knowledge that I have as well as the turmoil between people that makes me wonder if I do or don't. What if I don't believe in Christ? Does this mean I'm going to hell? if there is a hell. What about the jewish people. They don't believe in Christ. Are they going to hell for not believing in him but yes in God Himself?

please, no Bible quotes.... they prove nothing except the fact that someone can read a book. I can quote many lines from many books and honestly, it proves nothing and merely shows you don't know how to answer the question. My belief in God comes from emotions and feelings i've felt at various parts of my life (civilian and military). But, if I believe in Him, do I have to believe in Christ? If so, Why?

I personnally never tell a person their religion is wrong. The truth is, very limited proof exists for any of them. A lot of history, biblical or not, is based on speculation and writings of the WINNERS of a war or battle.

I am a devotee of Krishna and I believe in Christ as the Son of God. How do I know there is enough evidence in the Bible even though it has many misinterpretations and so much has been taken out by King Constantine. Because there is a book that shows the truth called You mean that's in the Bible by satyaraja dasa you can get at www.krishnaculture.com Also the Christian Essenes have the lost teachings of Christ They are the original Christians and they have a wonderful website with many books besides the Bible that are teachings of Christ himself (The Dead Sea Scrolls and many others) You can listen to lectures there also. Pray like anything for the truth to be revealed and it will. Just don't expect it to be main stream religion. Go to www.essene.org

It is difficult to tame a wild animal, unless he is tamed from pup-hood. Do you feel all trembly inside? Do what is right, and don't be afraid. Stay away from evil, and trust in God. Your heart will know the truth when it hears it, and when it does, don't poo-poo it, but don't go running like crazy after it either. Check it out and see if the feeling of "rightness" is true. "Cautious as snakes", as the saying goes. Not everything is of God. Doing what is right, even if it is hard, makes you joyful inside.

right, the question: how do I know that I believe? There is a parable about the potter and the clay and that's what we are. we are vessels made of clay, fired, and made use of. God pours within us every good thing: faith, love, hope, self-control, stuff like that.

Well, in order to hold those graces, we have to keep in good repair, or we will become leaky, and no matter how fast he pours it into you, it falls out just as fast. When you are made perfect, (me Catholic, me go to confession) (yes, and me sorry for booboos to God and brother from me) you can hold that grace more perfectly, and it overflows everywhere around you because of the generousity of God. Therefore, you can have more faith as you cultivate the place to put the faith. So. I have spoken. (way too much)

Play My Silly game for a sec. This is your answer.
You are on the roof of a burning building and there appears to be no way off this roof and then you see a rope. You can believe its a rope but that doesn't help. You could of been taught all sorts of things about ropes and even have a masters degree in ropology but you are still on the roof and its not getting any safer. You are going to need to believe "in" that rope to get you down, You secure the rope and let yourself down to safety. You now not only believe in the rope but you know the rope personally and tell others about the rope. You go to Yahoo answers and see endless questions and jokes from people on burning roofs asking about why you believe in ropes. Get it? Its all about your personal relationship with GOD through Jesus. You got to believe IN Jesus.
Sorry answer was so long.
May GOD richly bless you.

Yours is a good question. To truly believe in the religion we follow requires a personal testimony of the truth as revealed by the Holy Ghost.

I acquired this testimony through prayer, study, fasting, and constant attendance at church with other like-minded individuals. The Holy Ghost is the Supreme Entity that manifests the truth of God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, to those able to receive.

I am fortunate that the Holy Ghost has manifested the truth of our Savior to me, that He atoned for mankind's sins through a terrible ordeal, was resurrected, and stands now at the right hand of God the Father.

This truth will forever remain with me because it has touched my spirit by the power of the Holy Ghost. I testify to you that these words I leave here are true, that Jesus is the Christ, our Redeemer and Savior, through whom we may return to the presence of our Heavenly Father.

Through our obedience to God's commandments, we can return to the Father's presence and receive our eternal reward in that mansion prepared for us.

As far as many Christians are concerned you're going to hell for not believing in Jesus. However, it's just like you're belief in god as a being. I have a religion, I believe in it. I don't know how I know I believe it, beyond that I know it's there. It's not like my faith is unquestioning, I question it a lot and explore it to find out what it is.

If you don't accept Christ died on the cross willingly to pay for your sins you will go to Hell. The only way to heaven is through accepting Christ as savior. Read Romans! It explains this well!
Ask God to help you see what Christ did for you! God can help you with this!

>>>I know, weird question... but my concern is this. I feel that I believe in God as a being. However, to all the christians/catholics, how do you know you believe in Jesus Christ?

Faith is not based on sentimentalism, emotionalism, or conjecture. True faith appeals to reason. Faith begins with what we know to be true, and leads to conviction. Those who mock Christianity for “blind faith” are as ignorant and unreasonable as those who rioted to protest the Popes speech in Germany when he spoke against violence. Go figure.

>>>I don't know if I believe in him or not? I guess its all the science background and knowledge that I have as well as the turmoil between people that makes me wonder if I do or don't.

It’s part of your journey. Keep looking.

>>>What if I don't believe in Christ?

That does not change who He is.

>>>Does this mean I'm going to hell?

No. You will be judged by the way you lived, and forgiven by the manner you forgave.

>>> if there is a hell.

Yes, there is.

>>> What about the jewish people. They don't believe in Christ. Are they going to hell for not believing in him but yes in God Himself?

NOSTRA AETATE
She also recalls that the Apostles, the Church's main-stay and pillars, as well as most of the early disciples who proclaimed Christ's Gospel to the world, sprang from the Jewish people.
As Holy Scripture testifies, Jerusalem did not recognize the time of her visitation,(9) nor did the Jews in large number, accept the Gospel; indeed not a few opposed its spreading.(10) Nevertheless, God holds the Jews most dear for the sake of their Fathers; He does not repent of the gifts He makes or of the calls He issues-such is the witness of the Apostle.(11) In company with the Prophets and the same Apostle, the Church awaits that day, known to God alone, on which all peoples will address the Lord in a single voice and "serve him shoulder to shoulder" (Soph. 3:9).(12)
Since the spiritual patrimony common to Christians and Jews is thus so great, this sacred synod wants to foster and recommend that mutual understanding and respect which is the fruit, above all, of biblical and theological studies as well as of fraternal dialogues.
True, the Jewish authorities and those who followed their lead pressed for the death of Christ;(13) still, what happened in His passion cannot be charged against all the Jews, without distinction, then alive, nor against the Jews of today. Although the Church is the new people of God, the Jews should not be presented as rejected or accursed by God, as if this followed from the Holy Scriptures. All should see to it, then, that in catechetical work or in the preaching of the word of God they do not teach anything that does not conform to the truth of the Gospel and the spirit of Christ.
Furthermore, in her rejection of every persecution against any man, the Church, mindful of the patrimony she shares with the Jews and moved not by political reasons but by the Gospel's spiritual love, decries hatred, persecutions, displays of anti-Semitism, directed against Jews at any time and by anyone.
Besides, as the Church has always held and holds now, Christ underwent His passion and death freely, because of the sins of men and out of infinite love, in order that all may reach salvation. It is, therefore, the burden of the Church's preaching to proclaim the cross of Christ as the sign of God's all-embracing love and as the fountain from which every grace flows.

Jesus changed my life--and gave me peace, joy, and contentment.
1.I have quit trying to change people and let God do it, through prayer.
2.I don't try to figure things out- ANYMORE!! Hallelujah!!
TALK ABOUT FREEDOM!

About Jesus--the Bible says He convicts those He loves. I feel LUCKY that He loves me.

I was tired of living life with no victory and JESUS has changed that! He is TRULY AMAZING!!!

The Jewish??!! Judging them keeps you from judging yourself, doesn't it?
Jesus IS real. You need to talk to Him about your forgiveness.
Don't you feel something missing in your life? It's JESUS.
