No, of course not, they should be locked up until they die of boredom, and their money and worldly goods handed over to the young. Geez, I can't tell you how often I have answered this stupid question. Age has nothing to do with it, but ability does. I know people who Quit driving in their 80s because it is time, and some well into their nineties are excellent drivers. I have also know drivers who were too old a lot earlier. But the idiots that speed on ice, tailgate in snowstorms and driving rain, and can't figure out how to turn their stereo down below the ear-bleed threshold at 3 in the morning are mostly 18 to 28. So I toss it back: should citizens under the age of 25 be able to drive?

As long as they can see and drive safely they should be able to drive but after a certain age i feel they should have to go get a physical to make sure they are still alert enough to drive .Prime example i was in a driving class (got a speeding ticket in AZ) and there was a man in his late 70s in there and his wife asked if it was OK for her to sit in the class because he could not see to well (red flag) we were going around the room saying why we were in there and it was their turn and his wife said " we were driving and i was telling him which way to go because he cant see to well and this tree came out of no where and hit us " needless to say we all waited around 20 mins after they left so we would not be on the same streets driving along with them and the instructor sent a letter to the DMV

Anyone who is a danger to themselves or others shouldn't be allowed to drive.

Age really has little to do with it.

You'll never get all the unsafe drivers off the road, though, and legislating a cut-off age is only taking away the freedom of those who can drive safely even in their twilight years. Personally, I'm more worried about the 16 year old idiot who thinks he's a future NASCAR star and wants to prove it in his mom's SUV than I am the 80 year old woman doing 45 on the freeway.

Frankly, there are a lot of 70 year olds out there who drive better than many teenagers and young adults. Age itself shouldn't be a factor in whether one drives but rather the skill and health of the driver.

I just read an article this morning of a lady in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, who is 100 years old and just renewed her drivers license.

Yes, but I think they should have a special test for senior citizens to be done regularly....my grandparents still drive and it scares the crap out of my family....it is too dangerous because their motor skills have slowed down...but they don't want to admit that they have a problem....we finally convinced them to narrow it down to one vehicle between the two of them....and finally a couple of years ago my parents stopped allowing them to drive the grand kids around. Their feelings were really hurt....I wish they would understand. They are almost 90.

Yes. However, despite their experience and though their minds are probably as sharp as ever, their reflexes, sadly, will deteriorate with age. Therefore, in addition to a standard written test which one must take every time one's DL is renewed, a road test should also be required for persons beyond a certain age. I would recommend sixty (as would my grandmother who is in her seventies). This would allow those who drive unsafely to have that privilege taken away without losing any dignity.

Yes if they subject to a medical eval evey year or every 6 months if they are on medication. I also believe no one should drive and RV or one with a towed vehicle without a special endorsement on their license that requires a training course. Theri medical review should be much similar to the FEDMED required by commercial motor vehicle operators and be subject to many of the same rules of logging hourse and large vehicle maneauvering.

I think they should be able to drive, but they should take the driving test every 4 years. The highest car crashes are caused or involve the old geezers, right?

Age has nothing to do with it.....
Attitude does. Experience does.
As long as their health holds out,, let them drive.
