Maw, perhaps you can alter some of the ingredients in this one - i.e. sub venison for ground beef. Good luck. :-) BTW, chocolate or cocoa adds another dimension of flavor to chili. Never tried it with syrup though.
Chili con Cocoa
Ingredients:
1/4 cup vegetable oil
1-1/2 cups chopped onion
2 lbs. ground beef or ground turkey
2 tablespoons HERSHEY'S Cocoa
2 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons ground cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
7 cups whole tomatoes, undrained
1-1/3 cups tomato paste
1 cup water
1/2 cup HERSHEY'S MINI KISSES Milk Chocolates
3 cups dark red kidney beans, undrained
14 (8 oz. each) mini bread bowls, hollowed out
Directions:
1. Heat oil over medium heat in large saucepan; add onion. Cook, stirring frequently, 3 minutes or until tender. Add meat, cook until brown. Drain.
2. Stir in cocoa, chili powder, cayenne pepper, salt, allspice, cinnamon, tomatoes with liquid, tomato paste and water; heat to boiling. Reduce heat. Add chocolate pieces and beans; simmer 30 minutes.
3. Ladle chili (about 1 cup each) into prepared bread bowls. Garnish as desired. 14 servings.

If you were going to eat them like fondue...dip and eat, it would work. I would suggest the dark chocolate syrup. It's not the same chocolate they use in the fondue restaurants, but the process is the same. However if you want to dip them and serve later, you need a chocolate that will harden after dipping the strawberries. You can use something as simple as melted chocolate chips for this. If the melted chips seem too thick, add a tablespoon or two of milk. You may have to put it back in the microwave for a few seconds if you are doing lots of berries.

Sounds Like Cincinnati chili to me, just sub ground venison for the ground beef
Cincinnati Chili Recipe
1 large onion chopped
1 pound extra-lean ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground allspice
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon red (cayenne) pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa or 1/2 ounce grated unsweetened chocolate
1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1/2 cup water
1 (16-ounce) package uncooked dried spaghetti pasta
Toppings (see below)
In a large frying pan over medium-high heat, saute onion, ground beef, garlic, and chili powder until ground beef is slightly cooked. Add allspice, cinnamon, cumin, cayene pepper, salt, unsweetened cocoa or chocolate, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, cider vinegar, and water. Reduce heat to low and simmer, uncovered, 1 1/2 hours. Remove from heat.
Cook spaghetti according to package directions and transfer onto individual serving plates (small oval plates are traditional).
Ladle chili over spaghetti and serve with toppings of your choice. Oyster crackers are served in a separate container on the side.
