Take him away for a horseback ride. It can be soothing--it also lets you know that sometimes you just aren't in control of things, like being on a horse. You have to trust that the horse is going somewhere.
Or, if that's just too much, steal him away and surprise him with his favorite hobby--sports, music, etc. Go see a game with him!
Of course, the old stand-bye is the famous cookie or cake.
Most of all, just be there for him. That's the best thing you can give to him.

Best to give the guy some space for a bit, be there to listen to him. A good gift would be something to get his mind off all the stress. Like a movie at home or get some massage oil.

Well, the best thing in my opinion is to just let him know how much you care by telling him. But in my experience, a single red rose with a heart felt message or enen a candle lit dinner just for the two of you will really tell him that you are there, and that he is not alone! just let your heart do all the talking, it will lead you to the right place. Dont worry Im sure just having you there is helping him in ways he might no even understand. Good luck and I hope his dad recovers fast!

wow.. well when its something like that its hard to tell so ill just throw some ideas
the best thing you can do is show you care by being with him EVEN IF HE PUSHES YOU BACK just stay by his side even if you don't talk he will know you care and time heals all wounds
but in the mean time invite him to some place he loves
if he likes games go to an arcade
if he likes movies go to a theater
well you get the idea
good luck to both of you

not food because he will get fat and that will be another worrie for him and well you can be there and give him something or do something that will make him laugh or take him out for a picnic in the park do some thing, you must care for him to want to do something so sweet. you could make him a romantic dinner.

Bake him cookies. If you are not talented in the kitchen get some of those Pillsbury cookie dough chunks that are ready to bake and bake them. It only takes a few minutes and the gesture that you did something from your heart will warm his heart.

If it were mine, I would either buy him something he'd been wanting, or I would get him flowers--guys don't get them very often, which makes them more special. Or you could take him out to dinner and give him an evening away from it all.

omg if i was going through all that.....just be with me.
A guy going through that kind of thing doesn't need words....I think what he may need from you most is to just sit by his side. If he bitc***es, let him vent. Sorrow can be a lonely thing....who better to sit with him and comfort him in his sorrow than you?
Massages are awesome too!

What does your guy like? Mine is a gamer, so I would by him a cool toy from Fry's or make his favorite zucchini bread or just cajol him into watching his favorite movie with me.
