I am an athiest.
Atheists have no need to go door-to-door pushing their views (as some evangelists feel they need to). However, if you came to MY door and offered to talk about atheism, we would sit comfortably and have a drink together BUT you would be preaching to the converted. We would really have nothing much to say to each other. On the other hand, if there was a jesus-freak or two in the assembly of free-thinkers, then it would be far more interesting. Religion is a fascinating subject and I would talk about it until we ran out of beers but that doesn't make any of it anywhere near reality. Of course, our discussion would be a drop in the ocean but I take comfort in the fact that aheism is growing slowly and that religion will be seen for what it is at some time in the future. The muslims will take a further six hundred years to catch on but they ARE remarkably stupid as far as their religion is concerned - and as far as women's rights and human life are also concerned.

Accept atheism into your civilised life and be FREE!

People can be pleased at anything they love, and offended at anything they hate. If people hate God, perhaps there is nothing for them to love. They may argue that they do love, but definitely that is not selfless love. If they do, then there is no question like this one against the selfless love of the Jehovah Witnesses.
The Jehovah Witnesses happily bear offence in the name of Jehovah, would the Atheists willingly accept the same treatment for Atheism?

NO, I am happy to talk about atheism with you. Expect a lively discussion... bring your definitions of god and faith. Expect to be able to give your reasons without needing to quote a book. You better be able to think on your feet.

I don't mind Jehovah witnesses... but they don't make good discussion partners. They don't even know the bible well enough to quote. I end up showing them where they are making mistakes in the bible. Or I can quote the bible better than they can. By the time they leave, I've converted them to atheism.

For anyone going door to door pushing any form of religion or politic, they still come across as sales people. People like this are looking for something for nothing. I don't trust people who need to go door to door.

I do think most people would be offended by your preaching... just as much as they are offended by Jehovah witnesses. No one likes to be talked down to or told they are going to hell. Heaven and hell is a personal thing between you and your gods.

Not one bit, but I'm one of those scary Christians who left seminary to study religion at a State University. Although I would appreciate it if you'd sign a consent form so that I can type a log of our conversation in case I want to use it in future research. But seriously I enjoy hearing others' persepectives on religion. Yes, even Jehovah's Witnesses (although in my experience they lie when they say they'll come visit again in a couple weeks). I don't understand how anyone can truly claim to believe anything if he's not willing to listen to the persepective of those who oppose him. Faith is meaningless unless you're willing to put it to the test. In the end all philosophical arguements for or against the existence of God are based on a leap of faith and nothing can be proven without that personal step one way or the other.
P.S. you misspelled Jehovah

Personally I wouldn't be offended, but bored. I have my own thoughts about religion and I really think this is quite personal. On the other hand, there might people around in need of some light, so, you are not forced to accept this people into your place, but you don't need to be rude. Those people are only acting according to their faith. Aren't you democratic?

No, as a Jehovah's Witness I would really commend you for your effort in trying to help people (because you feel they need help). I would think that you have true love and really care about other people. I might listen respectfully what you have to say and raise questions. But if I can't agree with you, I will respectfully thank you for your time and concern for me.

Sounds like that we have offended you by calling on your door. Be assured that it is not our intention to be there to offend you but to demonstrate our love for our neighbors. We are sorry if we upset you. But the only thing you need to do is telling us that you really are not interested. We will leave, until the next time we are to visit the neighborhood. We do care, and that is why we call.

i'm sorry to take heed to that. i do no longer probable trust how they have reacted in direction of you. It does look hypocritical and that i've got a difficulty with that using fact they pronounced they might settle for you no remember what. That needless to say wasn't genuine. Your pal's mom and dad could be attempting to guard their daughter questioning which you will impression her spirituality in a unfavorable way (i do no longer know if it incredibly is why). if so, I do type of understand their sentiment, yet I nevertheless think of they went approximately this interior the incorrect way. in the event that they do no longer want you of their abode, why might they permit her hang around with you in a public place? i'm sorry, yet it is tousled. i'm a believer in Christ and that i'm actually no longer acceptable. i've got in basic terms had some undesirable reviews myself with fellow Christians and experience somewhat jaded. It would not substitute how i've got faith approximately Jesus Christ. I in basic terms choose that legalism might leave. If this friendship is substantial to you, perhaps you should objective communicate along with her mom and dad and your pal mutually and attempt to get them to be sure that it is amazingly ridiculous. needless to say they are passing up a sturdy probability to win you over to Jesus Christ. I do wish you will save an open concepts approximately Him. He does love you (and particular, he's quite genuine).

No I would not be offended personally I would laugh.

as for JW I am not offended by them as much as I am annoyed, but I would never want to take their constitutional right to preach what they felt was correct.

Not as much as most atheists would be if I came to their house and preached christianity.

It would offend me if you attacked my beliefs though.

I'm in the Jehovah's Witness Protection Program. I have to go door-to-door telling people I'm somebody else.
