I personally think it's a marketing ploy used towards children. Of course, I also think it's better that the kids consume smaller portions of candy so they don't get too riled up from all the sugar.

In today's world, words like "chocolate" and "large" are considered politically incorrect, but they are still used.
Words like small and petite are considered unamerican. Americans would rather have something labeled "fun" than admit they are fat and are forced to eat smaller quantities.

i have no clue! i agree with you though... who wants a piece of candy you can eat in 1 bite?! It would be uber ginormously fun if i had a GINORMOUS 1, not a little dinky piece!!!
