It happens- I wondered away from God for 20 years, but God patiently waited for me to come back and I feel a closeness I never thought possible. To feel closer to God, try to incorporate your spirituality into your daily life- if you hold the elevator for someone, silently think to yourself I do this for you Lord, If you help a stranger or do any act of kindness, do the same thing. It will bring your focus back to God. Be Blessed, God loves you and will never abandon you. God will patiently wait for you. I know from experience.

hm, usually we do not feel worthy enough as a person to believe that GOD would have time for us. The awesome thing is that once you take the leap of faith and "know" that GOD has your back...
YOU will feel relief from your burdens and wrong doings. This cleansed feeling opens up your heart to feel HIS love for you~
I wish that I had a forum in which I could tell you all how many times God has had my back. I have lived thru murder attempts, assaults, rapes... with NO OTHER human being having the capacity to help me. (Most people whine over tiny things and can not handle people that live thru horror stories...)
If God did NOT exist I would have given up to behaving like a victim and killed my self years ago. However, because He grants us the many blessings to which we can hold on to... I exist. I exist to do RIGHT by others and to talk about God and Jesus when people allow it (c: In this way I honor each new day that I am REWARDED with. May you all do the same (c;
We are ALL WORTHY . No matter what our pasts, once you "feel" His existence, You are stronger and more able to handle life's hardships. BECAUSE you are NEVER alone again.

1. Which god do you mean?
If you mean God, the Creator of the Universe, and of this Earth, the God and Father of the Lord Jesus Christ ...
2. Did you feel "close" to Him in the past? If so, did some traumatic event happen in your life? Or did you change your lifestyle quite drastically?
====================================
Some have told the illustration of the young man and young woman, riding in their car, so close together it looked as though they were a two-headed monster. They got married; the husband continued to drive. Some 25 years later the wife. sitting over by the car door, said "Dear, we don't seem as close together as we used to be". The husband replied, "I haven't moved".
Interesting illustration and probably a lot of truth in it most of the time.
BUT sometimes it seems that we have NOT "moved" but that, for some reason it seems there has been an "iron curtain" that has dropped in between God and ourselves.
Psalm 51:12 is a prayer "Lord, restore to me the joy of Thy Salvation". It is God's Salvation, a gift that He gives to us. For some reason sometimes we lose the JOY of God's Salvation. Notice, that does not say we lost Salvation; just the Joy of it.
I certainly do not blame every misfortune on Satan; maybe not even most of the things that "go wrong". But probably at leat sometimes he takes advantage of mishaps which come common to all ... but he uses those opportunities to take away our Joy.
"Brownsville Revival" chorus says: "I went to the enemy's camp and took back what he stole from me". Seems to me maybe we need others with us sometimes.
But, really, you don't give much in the way of "clues"!! Not even which "god" you feel "far away" from!!

Many people ARE far away from God. Maybe you are too. But the first thing you should do is thank Him for allowing you feel it. At least you have a chance to find Him if you seek Him.
Get a Bible and read the Gospel of John. He is reaching out to you.

If you are asking this question, it is good. It shows that you believe in GOD. If you have confessed with your mouth that you are a sinner and beleive in your heart that Christ Jesus died on the cross for all of our sins including yours. Then you are saved. If you have done this and you feel this way it can be a couple of things. GOD is perfect and cannot sin, so if you are in a sin that you continue to do over and over without repentence, GOD will stay away from that sinful activity. But he is still waiting for you to return to him with a repentive heart. He says that he will never leave you.Even if you are struggling, repent and start over. Some times it takes a while to get free from a sin that you have been in for a while. Sometimes even when we sin and repent satan will try to get us to feel quilty or condemned that the sin we commited is who we are. This makes us feel that GOD can't forgive us, and we feel GOD has given up on us. This is just one of the lies that satan will tell us. First, Christ said that he came not to condemn the world but to save the world. Then GOD says that he is faithfull to forgive us. He says that he will remember our sin no more. He says that our sins are at the bottom of the sea. As far as the east is from the west.(If you go west and keep going you will never find east. If you go east and keep going you will never find west) This is GOD saying he completely forgets those sins. When we repent and beleive that Christ payed that price, we are new. We just need to have faith that we are forgiven and try to remember our own sins no more. Sometimes bad events in our life make us feel distant from GOD. And last if you have something against someone and won't forgive them then GOD says he cannot forgive you. We must forgive others to receive the forgiveness that is waiting for us. Ask GOD to help you to forgive if you are having that problem. Even if they don't deserve it, because tell you the truth, we to don't deserve it. It is totally by grace that we are worthy. By the way I have been struggling with letting satan tell me that I have sinned to much. This is where we need to ask other Christians to pray for us and let your pastor know your struggles. Tell GOD you need his help, ask him to begin to build your faith.

It is an illusion created by religion. Religion talks about God as though we are separate from Him/Her.
This is not the case. You and I and everyone else is an actual part of God. We could not be any closer if we tried. Religion talks about a God who lives on some far off cloud called heaven. Rain drops live in clouds not God. Jesus told us that the kingdom of the father is within us.
This is as close as it gets.
Unless of course you think that Jesus was mistaken?
love and blessings Don

Because YOU are moving away from Him! He is still waiting in the same place for you! Draw near to God and He will draw near to you! To get closer again just ask Him to come back into your life and tell Him you are sorry for distancing yourself so far away! Ask Him to forgive you in the name of Jesus. There will be singing in heaven when you return! Zeph. 3:17

You might feel far away, but you're not (thankfully!). He's as close as reading His Word in the Holy Bible and as available as quickly as it takes you to start a prayer to Him in the name of Jesus Christ.
I pray that your relationship with God grows closer.

you will have to give a bit more detail. The reasons are so vast. have you changed something in your life. are you too busy to take time out for GOD?Without knowing what's going on in your life right now the only thing I can say is talk to Him, ask Him to help you.talk to Him as if He were there.Not a quick Our Father but talk to Him.GOD bless.

I don't know, why do you think? How do you live your life; read the Bible, adhere to what it says, pray, go to church, etc.? All of us have times that are "dry" and that is when we need to be patient and see where God is working in our lives.
