A molecular chemical formula tends to express exactly what atoms compose the chemical, as well as its absolute quantities (i.e. C6H12O6, glucose). An empirical chemical formula expresses in simplest numerical terms how many atoms are present; it reduces them down to a lowest commom denominator in a way (CH2O, note that all #s were divided by 6). Hope that helps.
