I am planning on visiting the doctor tomorrow but want to know if anyone has any specific information on what could cause a sudden sharp pain in my throat? When it started it felt like I had a dry throat and spoke causing a veru sharp and accute pain in my throat.

The pain is now constant at every spoken word, swallow and cough.

Any ideas?

By the way, the pain is in the middle of my neck, in my throat and is on the left side.

The pain started immediately after speaking with the "dry throat feeling" and hasn't quit.

I have had strep throat and regular sore throats and that usually begins with other symtpoms. This is a very sharp pain, like a needle sticking in my throat or a sharp chicken bone lodged in my throat.

FYI. Thanks for the answers

It could be many things like tonsil, infection, muscle spasm, something to do with the thyroid. The Dr. will have more of an idea from feeling and asking you questions. Try not to worry. I had my thyroid removed many yrs. ago. Things happen. I hope it's something easy and simple for you. He'll find out and that's the best thing. good luck.

You might have something stuck in there... some food maybe. I'm sure the doc can help you with it.
