I work at a preschool and we will be having the christmas show in a month. My class is supposed to team up with the 2-3 year old class (my class is 3-4 yr olds) and sing a christmas song.. I dont want them to have a song where they can't remember the lyrics so I need something short. What are some easy to learn songs that the kids will have fun with?
thanks

I would go with Jingle Bells. You have plenty of time to practice before Christmas. Good Luck.

Have a great day!

-Rudolph the red nose Reindeer is always fun
-Jingle Bells, very famous and popular. a bit long though.
-We Wish You a merry Christmas, very easy.
-Deck the halls, with all those Fa-la-la-la-la-la's, though it could get confusing........
-I'll Be Home For Christmas, that's pretty short.
-Let it Snow, Another fun song.

Hope that helps!

if you are happy to steer away from traditional christmas songs, here are a couple that my students have loved in the past. The key to help them learn is to put words to a tune they are already familiar with.

(to the tune Where is Thumbkin)

Where is Santa?
Where is Santa?
Here I am
Here I am
Merry Merry Christmas
Merry Merry Christmas
Ho Ho Ho
Ho Ho Ho

(to the tune If you're happy and you know it clap your hands)

If it's Christmas and you know it clap your hands
If it's Christmas and you know it clap your hands
If it's Christmas and you know it, then you really ought to show it
If it's Christmas and you know it clap your hands

extra verses: stamp your feet
jump jump jump
say Ho Ho

A lovely little finger rhyme:

Here is the chimney (make a fist with thumb tucked inside)
Here is the top (place other hand flat over top of fist)
Open the lid (take hand from fist)
And out Santa will pop (pop thumb out from inside fist)

These are just a few of the simple songs/rhymes my students have loved in the past. If you would like a few more ideas, feel free to email me.
