Feces can vary depending on diet. Generally, it should be formed, and soft to slightly firm.

Poo depends on what you eat.
In general light coloured and light well formed poo is best.
You'll naturally get that if you have enough fibre, vegetables, and not too much meat in your diet. Make sure you also drink lots of water (at least 2 litres daily).
I have noticed that my poo gets smellier and darker when I take a lot of meat.
Little ploplets are likely to be cause by not enough fiber to hold it all together.
Note however that other factors apart from what you eat can affect poo consistency, colour... such as the health of your digestive track...
So also add some yogurt every now and then to keep your digestive system working nicely.
Good luck!

The healthiest would be shaped like a bananna and be about as large as a small banana. Of course it depends on what we eat. Idealy we should get enough fibre in every meal to eliminate within 30 minutes of eating. If we eat a lot of any food it may affect the size, shape, smell and form so, don't worry if it isn't always the same. The ideal amount of fibre is 30 grams a day and Americans are lucky to get 10 grams a day. It's found in all raw fruits and veggies. Whole grains in bread and cereal and things like Barley Gree that you mix with juice and drink is one way to get it all at once. Go to Nutrition Express and type in fiber or Green foods or order their catalog. It will help you. good luck.

Red - Bleeding in colon
Black - bleeding in intestine
Light brown - Protien/fat rich
Dark Brown - High red meat diet
Hard - not drinking enough water/has been 'over brewed'
Soft - Not enough fibre/stimulant caused 'under brewing' ie alcohol
Blue - you've eaten a smurf
It should be somewhere in the middle of all that
Did you know as you get older the chances of a floater are higher as your muscles aren't strong enogh to squeeze all the air out!

Poo should be semisolid, with a mucus coating. Its brown coloration comes from a combination of bile and bilirubin, which come from dead red blood cells. Sinking turds are sign of more compact digestion, which is good.

It all depends. (Hey, I wonder if there's a connection with that word and the brand-name. . .)
Here are several interesting sites that will help answer some (or all, and then some!) questions about 'poo'

Who would have thought there was SO much *good* info on what you do in the bathroom? And it is actually quite interesting- I barely scratched the surface with the sites here!!!

Poo should be dark brown, one banana shaped lump, it should be buoyant but not float on top, if you prod it with something it shouldn't be on the bottom but should bob around just under the surface!
It shouldn't smell too strong and you shouldn't have to strain to do it, it should be the consistency of plasticine.
That is what I was told by a gastroenterologist! Or stomach doctor!
What a fascinating *job* he has!!
Excuse the pun!!

Lately, mine have been two-toned. A little dark, with some light brown to make the toilet look pretty. Floaters, sinkers, bobbers,( half in the water, half in the air ), I've had green, and even clearish poop, (when I'm sick), I've also had the half a roll wipe, and the one wiper. Some sweet smelling, but I like the kind where your poo-poo stinks so good, you laugh really hard, and your butt-hole makes a beautiful bouquet of hemmoroids.
