Spraying always gives a better finish.
Usually people use oil paint for exterior use, but with a fiberglass door I would recomend latex (water based) with enamel. Enamel is basically what is on your teeth. Paint with enamel in it has a nice durable protective finish. For a door I would go with a semi or high gloss finish. If you decide to go with a dark color, just remember that colors fade in the sun over time.
If you are not comfortable with spraying your door, use a high quality brush and/or roller, but again the best way to paint a door is with a sprayer.

Spray paint is best so the strokes are not seen. Use a high gloss enamel paint. Gives it a shine as well as easier to maintain to remove any stains. I strongly recommend this as an entry door has a lot of traffic and you want something that will last.

roller, then cut in w/a purdy brush(looks like a reg. brush but has sponge material on the tip) spray painting will leave unevenness that will be very noticeable in bright outdoor light.using a professional spray gun will leave a nice finish but VERY tough to repair w/o leaving noticeable touch-up marks and damage is inevitable on entry doors, and brushing it will leave brush marks that again will show well in light.
