Dampen your hair and pull it tight on the very top of your head with an elastic band. Keep sliding the band down away from your head until you reach the length you want to cut off and - snip! Perfect layers every time!!!

I'd suggest you do not layer it on your own. Go see a stylist that you can trust and communicate with him or her what it is you want. In other words, I agree with Nicole. Hope that helps. I just don't want you to mess your hair up since I know that would suck.

Well, I'm not really sure, but you might not want to try it. I recommend you go to a hairstylist before you mess up your hair completely. It's not easy cutting your hair on your own, none the less cutting it even and not to short. Sorry I couldn't help
