Sometimes I have trouble waking up in the morning. Its as if my eyes are open and I can see and hear things going on around me but my body feels paralyzed and I try to wake and get up but I cannot fully awaken and I feel as if someone is holding me down and won't let me up. It is a very scary feeling...

this is called sleep paralysis. it happens when your mind wakes up faster than your body, and it is still stuck in sleep mode.. paralyzed so that you don't act out your dreams. you will find this almsot always happens near the morning rather than earlier in the night, and you will usually be sleeping in a position with your back flat on the bed. it is indeed scary, whenever this happens to me, i try screaming and am unable to, i also feel like i am suffocating sometimes because i try to breathe and it doesn't come regular

Do you take any medications or anything? If not you just may be a very deep sleeper and depending on your age it may be normal.Teenages sometimes have this problem because they are growing so fast and require a lot of sleep. are you getting enough sleep? If not, go to bed earlier so you maybe won't be so tired and fee like that. Any other problems any other times, like missing times where you can't remember spaces of time or go to sleep doing everyday things? If this happens you may want a ophysical check up to rule out any disorder other wise try these things and see if they help. Also, if you keep it really warm where you sleep you might want to turn down the heat, and check for any carbon monoxide leaks if you have oil, gas, wood, coal anything combustible can give off carbon. Electric heat doesn't. The moniters like smoke detectors are pretty reasonable now. I have one in my house because it happens more than you think. good luck.

Do not worry. It takes time for your body to wake up.
