I need a new road bike, and I know a thing or two about bikes, but not enough to choose a great bike. I would like a LeMond, but I would like a better bike if one exists, which I'm sure does, such as Nishiki. So please help, I don't really care about cost.

Try looking into a Trek Madone. I have a friend who bought his Madone 5.2 a couple months ago and he loves it.
I just bought my Fuji Roubaix Pro a month ago and love it.
My girlfriend bought her Specialized Dolce Comp two weeks ago and she loves it.
Other than that, check out the Trek, Fuji, Cannondale, Lightspeed websites. Be sure that you get minimum components of Shimano 105s (or even better, the Shimano Ultegras)
Check http://www.performancebike.com/
They're trying to unload their 2006 inventory and selling them all at a really good price.
Happy hunting!

You don't care about cost? You assume the more you pay, the better the bike?
Wrong
Go to a used bike shop and buy a good Japanese made road bike, such as Shogun, Centurion, Sekai. Japan made a number of really fine bikes until the 1980s when they found they couldn't compete with the Chinese so go out of the bike business.
Fujis are also really good bikes.

The best bike for you is one that fits and meets your needs. Go to a reputable bike shop, have them measure you and then choose a frame, in the material of your choice. Lemonds are great bikes and I have one but there are better bikes, it just depends on how much money you have and what your style is. What are you looking for? If price isn’t an issue you could spend in excess of 14k.

No such thing as "best bike". You have to decide what's best for YOU. Lemonds are good quality bikes. I think Lance Armstrong rides a Trek. Go to a bike shop and see what they have. It's getting close to winter time...A good time to buy a new bike....Uh,' believe the hype', a bicycle only has two wheels, not four...If it has four wheels,it's not a bicycle...

I wouldn't buy a Nishiki. If your budget is unlimited try getting a carbon framed bike like Kestrel,Trek,Giant,Cervelo etc. I got a 2005 TCR-C2 Giant with 10 spd. Ultegra. Nice sweet ride. I've owned a steel and aluminum framed bikes but the carbon rides the best. Now that I've ridden carbon it's always hard for me to ride my old bikes.

for a road bike the most common ones out there are giant, devinchi, trek and cannondale(cannondale makes better mtb's) although specialized also make road bikes I am not sure about their quality. I recommend a devinchi because they look awesome and they are light and strong. but before you buy a new bike check for the material the frame is made of. some bikes have carbon/alloy frames but most just uses aluminum.
hope this helps.(o_o)

the best answer to you question is the bike that fits your needs and riding style if you want a nishiki ask your local bike shops or go on line to find one but the name is not important but how it fits is the main reason to buy one

if price is not an issue for you, then you should definitely get the Trek Madone 5.5. its around $3500 but has a carbon frame and fork with a ton of lightweight components. it weighs less then 15lbs and it really zooooms! this is one of the bikes that Lance Armstrong rides, so you know it has to be good.
