Religious usually has the connotation of following a set guide of rules and regulations that guide your life. Sometimes you get the idea that people are following a religion more than they're really believing anything. Well, being spiritual is more that you're guided by what you believe as opposed to what other people tell you to do or believe. At least, that's how I see it. I think of myself as more spiritual than religious.

For me personally, religion is a human attempt to make the Eternal more understandable to ourselves, and has little to do with the spirit as such. True spiritual beliefs are something else entirely, and are deeply personal and entirely unique to each of us. And these traits are not subject to dogma nor are they teachable by rote, they come from that piece of the universe within each of us, that little spark yearning to be a part of the whole, that is true spirit.
