lifting weights won't really help you to lose weight. Muscle weighs more than fat, but the more muscle you have the faster your metaoblism will be.
But playing basketball will help because you will burning more calories. It's aerobic exercise which u lose more weight doing.
But I heard it's healthy to lose about 2-3 pounds a week. Anything more than that is not good for you.
But doing those will do nothing for you unless you are eating healthy as well.

When lifting weights, it's not really about 'losing weight', it's about converting muscle from fat. So while you may weight the same, or have a few pounds of weight difference, odds are you will have put on muscle and lost fat, as muscle is heavier than fat.

That being said, if you expect to lose 30 pounds in a week, that is not terribly healthy.

Overall, if you spend a week lifting weights and playing basketball, Expect to lose 5-10 pounds depending on how active you were.

Otherwise, in 2 months, you would see dramatic physical differences. 20 pounds could easily be lost with that exercise regimen and proper nutrition.

But all this depends on how much you currently weigh, what your physical activity is like and how tall you are. Your BMI is also a start.

Consult a nutritionist or personal trainer before starting such an undertaking.

Maybe .5 pound. You have to burn 3500 calories to burn 1 pound. Your activities add up to about 1000-1200 at most.

You need to combine a diet with exercise for weight loss.

One of the fallacies I hear from members of my diet website is wondering why they never lost very much from exercising. You figure a 200 lb woman might burn 175 calories during a daily 2 hour walk (30 minutes). It will take her 3 weeks to lose 1 pound.

For people foolish enough to eat more because they're exercising, they might actually gain weight!

maybe none...muscle weighs more than fat...and lifting build muscle...combined with cardio(at least 30 minutes daily) and diet, then a pound a week is the norm and best for keeping off the weight long term

you dont lose weight when you lift weights, you actually gain weight in the form of muscle when you lift weights.

you're more likely to gain weight because you'll be building muscle...but your body fat will be reduced, and you'll tighten up, so you'll prob look like you've lost weight.
