like voices in their head. what is the cause?

More than one medical condition (psychological-schizophrenia, bipolar mania, acute manic episodes, and a variety of drugs) can cause this. If you know someone with these symptoms they should see a professional to determine the cause. Many times the "voices" are harmless, but there have been many cases of personal injury or injury to others due to this phenomena.

Schizophrenia. It's a genetically inherited imbalance of the brain chemicals that can be controlled somewhat with medications. The sooner the diagnosis the better.
