It might have something to do with it being the largest world religion. Also the fact that it is so divided, it's ridiculus.
You have your Protestants and Catholic Christians, and then you have your Protestants that are divided even more. What a mess! Most people could be talking about just how much Christianity is divided by different belief systems centered around Jesus Christ.

because some people ignorantly enough think that all Christians are as fanatical as on t.v and in the rest of the media.
they get the conception that Christians somehow put all their beliefs in customs and traditions and not in reasoning, when truth be told true Christians are told to challenge ideas and customs and beliefs, no matter from what, to see if they originate with god, and if they are the most sensible.
they feel that Christians cant back up their beliefs because hey believe everything blindly like sheep and don't take the time to study and learn things on thier own. also false. true christians also find the basics and reasones for what tehy beleif and learn how to explain it to others. True christians need to think as a united family, however independance is neccisary to grow closer to god as yourself, and to understand your beleifs independantly and to find the logic and reasoning behind them.
I personally like a good challenging question posed by aethists, other religious groups, and even fellow christians, it helps me find the reasones for my beleifs and strenghen my view as to what is truelly, the right religion. just as all christians should do.
so its a combination of the fact opposers of religion find christians an easy target, other christians question other christians beleifs in the bible, and other religions asking about what christianity teaches.

Because Jesus is a stone of stumbling, yet the chief corner stone.
Isaiah 28:16
Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
Ephesians 2:20
And are built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone;
1Peter 2:8
And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.
