I suppose it depends on the person. As for me, a lot of the laws (especially from Deuteronomy) are rather... well, they don't seem to mesh with some of what Jesus taught. So I honestly don't understand why they were ever laws. If God never changes, then it could be logically said that His standards and expectations would be static as well; that doesn't really seem to add up when you compare the old Mosaic laws to the teachings of Jesus. Although I value both the Old and New Testaments, I do not observe the multitude of Mosaic laws, except for the ten commandments. I hope that God does not judge me harshly for this.

Good question. Most of the people I know only read the New Testament because they say the Old Testament is not relevent anymore. The only time I here someone speak of the Old Testament is to condone or condemn something. Well, I strongly disagree with both of those ideals. If God is never changing then the Old Testament matters and if Jesus did not come to destroy the law but to fufill it then there again the Old Testament matters but unfortunately people only use what suits them out of the OldTestament while forgetting other aspects of it. And that is the ones that actually take the time to read it. Other than animal sacrifice I think most of the Old Testament should be adhered to. Just because we have the precious blood of Jesus to save our souls does not mean we cannot show respect to God by following laws that are plainly laid out in the Old Testament. Not to mention the learn from it.

Follow? as in believe...or follow as in obey? What are you asking?
Christians are under the new covenant provided by the death of Christ. The old covenant is obsolete. Consequently, the main teachings of the Church come from the New Testament.
However, the Old Testament is sacred to Christians as well. It provides the holy history of how God has worked in the past, and provides examples and lessons for us (see 1 Corinthians 10). You cannot fully understand the NT without a good working knowledge of the OT.

We only pay attention to the Ten COmmandments and follow the New Testament more! The N.T. tells us how to live, but the O.T. is more for stories about the bible people!

It is impossible to follow the NT without following the OT. Most people are decieved into believing they can but Jesus walked Torah , completely and perfectly, if we are followers of Him, then we should be walking it too. He said is you love me , you will obey my commands- he did not say we get to pick and choose which commands. Also, every time the NT refers to 'writings' or 'scriptures' they are directly referring to the OT- you cannot get around it.
