Should that be the question, how bad it hurts, or maybe the longer range question is a tiny bit more appropriate, "How will I feel about the image I chose in 10 years? How about 30 years?"

I just got mine right above where your bikini line would be and it didn't hurt as bad as I thought. It did hurt, and I did almost pass out. (Got sweaty, couldn't hear, dizzy) but as soon as I drank half bottle of Pepsi, I was fine. The outline hurts the worse. I cringed, but the coloring was nothing. I had a phone conversation while she did my coloring. But then again, you want yours done in a different place which could hurt more or less. The best way I could describe the pain is stick a needle in your skin and drag it...sorry, but that's the truth, so think twice!

just like most people are saying most of it depends on your threshold of pain. other factors could be whether the artist has a "heavy hand" and how quickly they work. i've got 12 hours of work right under my sternum and by the end i was shivering. so whatever you do, good luck and really think about the design, and do your research on the artist.
look through their portfolios, check out their lines and shading. if the shop gives you an uncomfortable feeling or the artist won't answer your questions leave.

I have 3 tatoo's and do not regret them at all. I have two on my back, (one on each shoulder) and one on my chest just above my left breast. The more meat you have in the area, the less it seems to hurt. I want to get one on my upper arm area. This is your decision on what you want to do, I am sure you will be fine.

I have many tattoos, i think in the places your talking about it wouldnt be bad at all. I have a large dragon near my ankle and it about killed me. Theres little skin and lots of bone. Ive also got a flower and butterfly on my neck, that didnt hurt at all. I think you'll be fine just make sure you love what your getting.

Your shoulder will hurt more than your arm. I got one on my chest and it was 2 hours of pure agony.
It feels kinda like scratching sun-burn.

She positioned me on Vicodin till I have been given to the orthopod and the Vicodin slightly worked. I had a ninety 8% torn rota tor cuff of my precise shoulder and had to have it operated on. They will hurt most in places that see the least sunlight. And they really don't hurt too much. It's a slight burn and tingle. After you get started it all goes alightly numb. Just bite your lip and go nuts!

Tattoos are so wack. Why does everyone think they are so cute these days!? I think tatoos on women look SO BAD when they have them in places that everyone can see: the arms, chest, neck, etc. I mean, how will you look on your weddind day with a big ol' dragon busting out your arm? ..Well, you seem like you have your mind made up, so at least get a small one.
