My parakeets have become very quiet lately. Does that mean there is something wrong?

are your parakeets moulting? sometimes parakeets change their behavior when they moult. also, have you changed anything around the area of their cage or moved the cage to another location? have you brought any thing new into the mix, such as a new pet? have you been paying them the same amount of attention? did you change their brand of food? back to moulting, if they are in fact moulting you might want to supplement their diet with fresh greens and other fresh foods. my bird eats spaghetti and rice all cooked of course. ask if your pet store carries bird food that you can cook yourself! they love fresh fruit too. just try apples-no skin, bananas without the peel and oranges without the rinds! good luck!!!

Hi,
What type of Parakeets do u have?
Sometimes birds like humans can have their quiet days.
But sometimes it can be a sign of ill health. Is quietness the only symptom they're showing.
Keep a close eye on them as birds are extremely good at masking illness and sometimes when we notice they're ill it can be to late.
Dont be to concerned but be vigilant.
I have a cockateil and a lovebird and sometimes those two make so much noise and other times they are so quiet i wonder whether they're alive.
Also if mine are to hot or to cold or disturbed by something they can quiet as well.

when the weather changes birds do too home birds get quiter they usual make sure they are not in a draft

could be, are you paying enough attention to it? try and talk to the bird, and keep him in a room where there are people coming and going. birds do not like to be left alone. bird could be depressed and lonely.

If they are not moving also, there is probably something wrong. If there legs are pointing up, there is definately something wrong!
