Hello All,

Please don't laugh. I do. I'm a regular joe with a professional job, loving family, and a nice girlfriend. However, I want to become a robot pirate (not pirating robots, but a mechanical sea raider). I'm seriously considering quitting my job and leave my family and go join a pirate ship. Am I insane? I once hinted to my family and they think i'm nuts! Please help!

I know this sounds like a joke but it is not. This idea has been with me for 3 years now. I have looked upon internet and sites trying to figure out how to become a robot. I found a pirate ship that would take me off the coast in Malaysia.

I have the same dream, my friend. Ever since I resigned myself to never being a backwards-talking ninja I found that I was infatuated with the idea of installing robot parts into my body and commanding a vessel on the high seas, plundering ships and ports. My friends and family think I have gone bonkers, but I assured them that in a world of 6 billion people that there must be other robot pirates out there. I've finally found one!!

Actually, as weird mental illnesses go, that might not be so bad.... At least your obituary will be entertaining!

Everyone has weird fantasies: I occasionally wish I was an interdimensional space pirate (although not necessarily a robotic one...). However, quitting your job and actually acting something like this out is likely to result in you going overboard with an anchor tied to your feet somewhere off the coast of Somalia (modern pirates are usually not nice people, and generally don't like being disturbed unless you happen to have something worth stealing...). This is the real world: no theme music, no special effects, relatively few Daring Escapes or Damsels in Distress, and if you screw up badly you can't just load your last save!

You probably want to see a psychiatrist to help you control your fantasies. If you really need more adrenaline, try skydiving or olympic paintball or something else where your fellow humans are not intentionally trying to kill you!

As for becoming a cyborg, go ahead. At least you have a reasonably good chance of surviving that fantasy.

i'm sorry for all the stupid answers your getting. If you really are serious about this ok. sounds fun, but leaving your family to do it, thats not cool. talk to them more about this. maybe its something you can do every once in a while. just talk to them and explain that this is your dream, if they still think your nuts then go for it. i kind of know how you feel. i mean to want to do something and your family holds you back and all. but anywho, best of luck to yah and ARG!!!!!!!!!!!!
