Do you feel all Christians are giving you thumbs down? If so, that would mean only 2 Christians have read this one.
If you are at all interesting in investigating logical reasons for believing in the existence of God, I'll recommend 2 books:
1. "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis. (a rather short book).
2. "Evidence that demands a verdict" by Josh McDowell (Much longer, in 2 volumes, easy to read print). The second actually deals with evidence about Christianity.
Personally I don't know why anyone would feel a question a bout the existence of God would be offensive. Remember, some Christians are christian in the same way you can belong to a political party. Loyalty to their faith without having a living relationship with God. They will feel they have to defend God in the same way they defend their particular religious group. They need to understand that God does not need a defender - or, as you would probably put it: " If there is a God he does not need a defender".
The answers you are getting are not very satisfactory, because the question is really too big for what can be done here in Answers.
By the way, take a good look at shogirl's answer (above). Doesn't prove anything, but explains it very well.
On the other hand, captain obvious's answer is not a christian answer at all. He may be a Christian, but his answer has nothing to do with the attitude of Christ.

It's not all Christians, just some of the more vocal ones. The problem is, some of them read in religious books or hear their minister, etc. about something and automatically believe it. They don't think about it on their own. None of them actually read a science book if they want to discuss science, or only read one printed by some religious group. Science can be a complicated area, and many are anxious to "prove" their faith and want to by trying to disprove science. What it all boils down to, they are afraid of reading something in depth and possibly losing their faith (and in my opinion, if you're faith isn't strong enough to be challenged, it isn't worth anything to begin with).
I have had the opportunity of studying religion (as a college major) and also studying a great deal of science. While I can find some theological issues in, for example, evolution (if man evolved from lower forms of life, there cannot be "original sin", a basis for some conservative Christians), I really don't find that many conflicts between the two. There has been conflict between science and religion before (the Church condemned scientists for not believing that the earth was the center of the universe for centuries, and almost no one believes it is anymore), and did religion crumble and go away? No, it learned to adapt to it. This is what needs to happen now. If religion would stop confronting the Big Bang and evolution hostility (I'm not saying they have to believe it) and learned to work with it in their faiths, I think both sides would be much better off. All the fighting has done is turn many people against their religion and weaken it. Science is not out to disprove God, but God cannot be proven or disproven, and therefor cannot be science. Religion needs to understand this. If they cannot, I feel that any religion that cannot do this will ultimately be doomed.

In all fairness, yes there are some idiot responses from Xtians.
And yes, there are an almost equal number of questions from Athesits and Agnostics trying to defrock Xtian logic and morals.
But, that is saying something. Considering that I have posted polls asking a multiple choice of which faith people belong to, and 80% of the respondents were Xtian. Looking at the questions, I would not say that the number of questions on any page is a 4:1 ratio of Xtian vs. Atheistic in nature. Sadly, Atheists post more, but have less of a physical presence on the R/S boradless. Why is this?
I, myself, am proud to be an atheist. I am that way because I have researched religions AND philosophies of the world. Then I made an educated fottpath for the rest of my spiritual life. I just wish that more atheists would do a little research before giving egocentric and bigotted responses to Xtian questions, thereby giving all us a bad name.

Hello there.
1. Rebuttal- God is in my heart; I am saved by the blood of Jesus Christ. He died on the cross for my sins.
2. Isn't this the same kind of logical question like, "Can you prove that your God exists?" But fortunately, I can. You may see people in wheelchairs. Maybe not that many, but you may. Now, take any Christian Pastor, that fully believes in God and all that he can do, and is filled with the Holy Spirit. If he has just the faith of a mustard seed, he will be able to heal the man in the wheelchair. Need a name? Bill Johnson. You may want to Google him.
3. Yes, what did make you? Did evolution? Not a chance. Evolution starts out with the mere basic one cell organisms. Granted, some DNA may show some similarities, but God just as easily could have created those similarities.
4. He does exist. You may call me brainwashed. DUH! I choose to BRAINWASH myself with God, Scripture, etc. and I can feel it cleanse my soul.
5. This relates to a question that I have recently asked. I said that God was here before the world began, right? Well, people who believe in the Big Bang believe energy was always around (where did it come from?)
We, as Christians do not hate people asking for proof. We hate people who go through this sort of thing trying to disprove our beliefs, because there is really no need for it. You believe what you believe, I believe what I believe. We don't have to evangelize, but we do it anyway, out of good hearts. You choose to shoot down Christians where they stand with AK-47's, and they fall down because after this sort of thing, they aren't sure what to believe. But those who don't fall will have resistance. When we have resistance, when we have children, they will grow up under strong Christian roots, and they, too will have resistance. If this is your goal, good luck. There are millions just like me.

I think that *some* Christians become defensive due to questions like you mention: "Can you prove your God exists" Even though I know Jesus Christ, I wouldn't be able to prove He exists
Also, many Christians just haven't been reading the Bible. Because, Jesus said that all believers will suffer tribulation and persecution, and we ought to rejoice. Then we can similarly discuss things
So, from now on, whenever I see a "Christian basher" on this site, I will not mince words anymore. I'll tell it just like it is. Peace.
By the way, am not implying that you are a Christian basher

I don't like to call myself a Christian because of exactly what you expressed above. I don't understand why they get so defensive...if it is really in their hearts, than no one can steal it. I feel no one can steal how I feel about God.
However, I don't do those things.
To answer you question: I CANNOT PROVE MY GOD EXISTS. It's by "FAITH". We all believe what we believe by faith, no matter what religion.
I can't give you proof...I know for a lot of people that is frustrating and they need proof. But no christian CAN GIVE PROOF.
I hope Christians learn to respect others an in turn others learn to respect Christians.

hmm, i'd like to see someone go outside and make a tree. oh dont forget you can't use the dirt of the Earth because God had to create it to for Him to use it. evolution, if thats what your thinking is the reason of our existence, makes little to no sense to me. how could there just be a random ball of matter, randomly explode, and randomly create swirly clouds of dust that migrate together to form the earth beneath us. where did the energy of the molten core of the earth come from? from this swirling dust in cold outer space? how could there not be a Creator that made this universe? it relies far too much on chance for it to be remotely possible for me to believe. not only that, but i have FAITH in Him. Faith that He exists and that the Bible is true. if we were given all the facts, there wouldnt be faith, would there? you wouldnt question it, you would just know it was true, right? with faith, you have to feel it in you heart, soul, and mind. however, we are not just making it up, it comes from a reliable source, the Bible, in which we read the stories that written by man from the influence of the Word of God. through this, and prayer, we know that He is real and that He is alive in us each and every day. with that, my answer to your question is i cannot prove He exists, but i can show you how i have faith that He exists. that i know and believe He does. i hope this helps and pray that one day you may question more and more until you find the answer(s) you're looking for.
For what its worth,
God Bless.

If you just got shot and someone asks you if it hurts, what would you say, something like yeah I can feel the pain, no one else can feel your pain or see or touch its. In this case you know, while others can only imagine you feel the pain. Its the same way with God Some people just know, some people think they know and others have no idea or just don't give a damn. In other words you either feel it, or you don't.

Perhaps you aren't smart enough to ask an intelligent question.
First, what is your standard of proof that youa re requiring them to meet? Is that consistent with normal burdens of proof that you require of other things?
Second, science proves the existence of God. Now if you are unfamiliar with the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics then I cannot help you. And if you are familiar with it, then you are aware of the logical extension that requires something outside the closed system referred to casually as the known universe to wind the clock.
Said differently, perhaps you've heard of Einstein's Theory E = MC (squared)? The necessary implication is that energy can be converted into mass and vice versa. And the corollary is that neither can be created from nothing without supernatural intervention (by defintion). That supernatural intervention is God.
The real issue is to determine what the characteristics of God are and define your relationship to him. Good luck with that one!

Friend, i don't think you understand, the basis for the Christian religion is to believe without any proof, that is what makes us Christian, we BELIEVE Christ died on the cross for our sins, we BELIEVE that He rose from the dead and is alive today in Heaven, This belief is what makes us CHRISTIANS.
IF there was PROOF, as you so desire to see, Then EVERYONE would believe and there would be no need for FAITH at all.
You see God at this very moment could show Himself to the entire World, then EVERY Human on this planet would believe in Him, and All would go to Heaven, because of this Proof.
The basis of a Christian is to believe by FAITH, not by proof. You see I KNOW there is a God, but I can't prove it. i KNOW Christ died and rose from the dead, but i can't prove it. i KNOW that i am Saved and am going to Heaven, but i can't prove it, Hello this is what makes me a CHRISTIAN, because i believe WITHOUT any proof. IF you desire proof, then you are no more Christian then those who asked Jesus " show us a sign, that we may also believe you are the Son of God "
A wicked and perverted generation seeketh after a sign and there shall be no sign given, a wicked and perverted generation seeketh after proof and evidence, and there shall none be found. But those who believe without needing proof or evidence are those who God desires to be with Him in Heaven.
In His Holy and Precious Name, Jesus Christ
