What would be "required" if one wanted to check themselves into a hospital in order to help with depression and other feelings? How "bad" would one have to be in order to go in? Like, say if I told my parents that I think I'd like to be put into a hospital because therapy isn't working, antidepressants aren't helping, and even though they've helped ease things a little, all of the bad thoughts and feelings are still there... would it be a foolish decision of me to actually *want* to go in for in-patient treatment? Is it something one can choose to do?

I wish I could elaborate, but I don't want this question to be deleted. If you can help with any of the questions, I'd greatly appreciate it. You can even email me if you want. I just need some opinions.

Thank you.

if you're in therapy, this would be a good thing to discuss with your therapist. it's not a bad decision, it's just something that needs to be thought through well. talk with your parents and your therapist, they should help you sort through things to make this decision.

It's not a bad idea. It really depends on you. Do you trust yourself? Meaning, do u think you will harm yourself? If you answer yes, than I suggest that you definitely seek help and/or get hospitalized. Remember, that no one, but you, your parents and anyone you choose to tell will know because this is a private service. I've been hospitalized twice (1 forced and the other voluntairly). Look if u want to talk about this further email me Berni83@yahoo.com.

You are the only one that knows how you feel. Let your therapist know how you feel. They usually can help get you admitted. If you feel like therapy is not helping and the meds are not doing there job maybe inpatient is the answer. It can be more intense but you usually feel better coming out then you did going in. I have addmitted myself a few times and it has helped me a lot.
Good Luck with what you decide. Also let me know what you decide. cornishrex77@yahoo.com

talk to your parents about it.......if you decide to admit yourself then you will need them if you want to get out before the doctor release you......plus it is not a decision you should make lightly.....your parents may be able to help you make the right decision...after all they have your best interests at heart.
